Subject: Lyrics Regents...

OK all. remember in High School, when regents time came along. Sometimes you had to "remember" stuff from previous semesters. Sure you did. Man, were those exams tough, or what. But enough about school. This question is directed at all my early-MTV addicted compatriots. I watched MTV religiously in '81-'83. When I wasn't watching MTV, I would be watching B.A. Barracus or Sonny kick some major baddie butt.
MTV played a video back in 81 or 82 which featured the band's participants in cloak and dagger type clothes and situations. The lyrics that I remember are:
"Set up, every opportunity to make me like them. Set up, everything they (did/said?)(some other worD) with them."
I am not totally sure about the second sentence, but it did rhyme with the first one.
I will put the person who can give me this info on a pedestal and scream your name in a "Hail (insert your name here)!!" sort of way.
Plus you will be deemed: Cool as Ferris™ !!

It's by Rupert Hine on the "Waving Not Drowning" album
Set up - set up for the sake of a comfortable home
Too young - too young to take control
Mother's little weapon for when Father broke the rulesHe never wanted her or me
He just wanted to be freeThere's a risk and a twist
And all this from the girl you missed by minutesOn the day you were hit
Set up - every opportunity to make me like them
Set up - born into a world where I had no controlOne set up leads to another
Too set up to lie to each otherAnd it's all been a fram
I've got to change my appearanceAnd get rid of the nameThey did it with mirrors
They did it without painI was set up and held up and stuffed in a cage
Don't get up and say it was some other mother
I'm sure enough it was you that planted meIs there anyone out there
Who can change this atmosphereSet up - every opportunity to make me like them
Set up - born into a world where I had no controlOne set up leads to another
Too set up to lie to each otherThey did it with mirrorsThey did it with teachers
They did it without painThey couldn't think of a number so they gave me a name
Set up - every opportunity to make me like them
Set up - born into a world where I had no controlOne set up leads to another
Too set up to lie to each otherThey did it with kindnessThey did it with a smile
They did it all with a licenceThey did it according to the rules
They did it with good adviceThey did it for some reasonThey did it
Well they tried...
