Subject: Think about this
do you think that any song released by an artist now could bring back that same feeling an eighties song brings you?
I say no, even a new song by an eighties artist just doesn't give me the same vibe. There are new songs I like, but they just arn't the same, I guess for me the musical timeline has past.

I would have to say back in the 80's Love Bites by Def Leppard got under my skin...but now Long Long Way to Go by them does the same thing to me
Subject: Re: Think about this
the problem with groups that were around in the 80's and are still performing is either they have changed members which alter the sound or they are trying to hard to sound like todays music.
I would like to say tho that I get the feel of the 80's sound when i listen to "The Key to Gramercy Park" by "Deadsy"
yes they are a new but you can hear the influence in there. 8)

Nothing could ever bring back the same feeling as an 80's song but an 80's song!!! ;) That's it, that's the way it was in the begining, that's the way it's gonna bee! Need an 80's fix....NOW!
Ya got me goin'....gotta get out my cassettes and listen to them all over again and again and again....this is usually never ending for me, it's 12:35am and i know now i will be up till 2am listening to my "totally 80's tunes"!!!!!!! ;D ;D ;D
Good-nite all, and good morning too!

Now that I think about it, there was one song that I thought had the 80's spirit, "Special" by Garbage

Not last year, nor the year before, but with the techno boom which I outlined in an earlier thread, who knows how good (ie, comparable to the 80s) music shall become?
Subject: Re: Think about this
Right forgive me if I'm being a bit dense here........but yes!. I hear loads of new stuff all the time that blows my mind or makes me think 'WOW great song!'.I have the same reactions to songs from today that touch me musically whether it be happy, sad, thought provoking etc.I thought just as much stuff from the 80's was shite as I do for today's music. If you mean will any song make me feel 16 and full of all the adolescent crap that went with being 16 then obviously no because I'm in my thirties now and quite frankly I wouldn't want to be a teensomething again!
Think of all the posibilities that you could be missing if you refused to listen to new music!

There are a couple of 80s songs bought back and rereleased by a different artist. They don't bring back the same vibe because they are added with rap/hiphop/ or some other background music which in my opinion spoils the songs original "vibe".
