I am in the musical Footloose, and we were told to basically fend for ourselves when it came to costume ideas. But they did tell us to go here. Cool website by the way! Anyway I' m completly lost as to finding 80s attire. So HELP please! What were the general styles back then? OH and I have been dubbed as a " NERD" . So also were there any styles that only the "NERD"s wore? Please Help!!!

It actually depends on what time of the 80s...for example, the early 80s still saw lots of 70s left over looks and such...and the later 80s started delving into grunge a little bit. But I think Footloose came out sometime in the mid 80s if that helps at all... As for 80s clothes, I still say the best place to find them are thrift and vintage clothing stores, as well as online sites like Ebay and rustyzipper.com

Rent the movie!!!!! also check out Sixteen Candles. The way the nerds dressed there, was how they dressed at my school!

another good example of what "nerds" were like in the early 80's
watch some episodes of "Square Pegs"
I believe that the channel "TVLand" still airs this show.
