Subject: remember this commercial??
Hey! Do you guys remember a commercial advertising a music collection of, like, love-type songs... it had a guy and a lady in front of a fireplace. It was one of those "not sold in stores" collections.
It's driving me nuts! The sequence of songs has been stuck in my head since like 1987!
Here they are ... maybe this will spark you memory:
-nights in white satin
-I've been waiting for a girl like you
-cherish the love we have
-I'm all outta love, I'm so lost without you
-when i need you
Yes, I'm insane. But PLEASE - this is killing me. I would love to download it if someone can provide a link.
THANKS!!!!

My mom and dad have several old video tapes from 1987-1990 since they never tape over stuff, and there were lots of old commercials, and I do remember seeing a couple of those "not sold in stores" albums.. the only one I remember seeing on those tapes was called "Feel Good Rock," but it doesn't sound like the one you posted, so I'll let you know if I find anything!
Subject: Re: remember this commercial??
Yeah - it's definitely not "Feel Good Rock" .. but thanks!! ;D
Subject: Re: remember this commercial??
I think the C.D. might be called "Touched By Love". I'm not sure though.

I think Jessica may be right! http://www.tvmusic4u.com/cgi-bin/SoftCart.exe/Store/p-5059.asp?L+scstore+pnnq5502ffb08fb0+1026357923
Does that look familiar?
Do you remember if it was tvmusic4u, or Time Life Music, or whatever? Because I could search around those sites for you.
Subject: Re: remember this commercial??
Or it could be "Smooth 70s." http://www.tvmusic4u.com/cgi-bin/SoftCart.exe/Store/p-5249.asp?L+scstore+pnnq5502ffb08fb0+1026357995

Now I gotta find the commercial....
Subject: Re: remember this commercial??
I'm surfing through www.tvmusic4u.com, and it has a Billy Joel cd that is "not sold in stores." Funny, I saw it in Wal-Mart last week.

No, it's not Touched By Love - that is a current release from Cornerstone Promotions. The V/A compilation that you're thinking of from the late '80s was titled Secret Love, from Sessions. It was a 4-LP/4-cassette/4-CD collection that featured 48 songs, including all five that you named ("Nights in White Satin", "Waiting for a Girl Like You", "Cherish", "All Out of Love", and "When I Need You"). Unfortunately, it's long out-of-print in all formats...
However, I did manage to find a site selling new (sealed) copies of Secret Love on vinyl LP, including cover art and a complete track listing. Link below...

Wow 80smusicfreak! You're good! I never would have found that!
Subject: Re: remember this commercial??
Well, now that you guys have found the one you're looking for, does anyone remember THIS one (I hope you do if you grew up in the latter half of the '80s like me, this is from 1988, 1989...):
Ed Lewis: "MicroMachinemanhere...heywait!Whoturnedoffthelights?I'lljustturnontheMicroLight

That's right, the MicroMachine man that kicks out about 1,000 words a minute. I found out this guy's name is actually Ed Lewis, and he had about six of these things. They ran them in pairs and I have several of one of my old memorabilia tapes.

I thought his name was John Moschita and he held the world record as the fastest talker. He had a cameo appearance in Saved By The Bell as a substitute teacher that talked so fast, it made the black girl's ("Lisa Turtle") pencil smoke :o

Wasn't this also the same man that did the Fed Ex commercials... "when it absolutely, positively has to be there overnight"? :)

Or more specifically, Calgon Laundry Additive for hard water. Not to be confused with 'Calgon, take me away!' ;)

I can help you, Shequan. The name of that album in that commercial is called "Secret Love." It aired around 1987 and also had songs such as "Do That To Me One More Time," "Reunited" as well as "All I Need" and "Saving All My Love For You." Unfortunately, I don't have it for you to download, but at least you now know the name of that album and the commercial.

I remember that one when I was a kid. If you wanna be real technical about it, it was called Calgon Water Softener.
I used to love to watch commercials when I was a kid in the 70's. There's just not any commercials nowadays that I can give a darn about like there were then.
Subject: Re: remember this commercial??
I haven't looked it up on the Net yet, but Wisk comes to mind. Or was that "Ring around the collar?" Maybe it was both.
