I used to really like Ernie and Bert.. I used to watch Sesame Street regularly, but my sister always watched it as a kid!!
Subject: Re: Favorite Sesame Street Character
Mine was and still is "GROVER"! and he's cute too! ;)
Subject: Re: Favorite Sesame Street Character
Oh my god, there's like, so many. Pardon me. Out of the non-human characters in Sesame Street, some of my favourites are Grover, the blue thing, the two-headed purple monster (I can't remember his/their name(s)), Snuffy, the Snuffalupagus (Snuffalupugus) and Oscar the grouch. I've still got lots of the inflatable toys from the series, among other merchandise.

Not forgetting (although I almost did) Barclay, the orange dog.

I used to like the Count
Recently in Payroll I helped in reconciling everyone's pays for the year (and we're talking over 2000 employees here)
...and I'm thinking to myself
"They call me the Count, because I like to count things....Muwahahaha..."
Well, anything to pass the time...... ::)

Mine would have to be the 2 aliens that visited Ernie. I remember one episode where they were in Bert & Ernie's apartment and the phone rang and they tried to imitate the phone.

Grover!!
He was always my favorite. In fact, one of the very first "kid-books" we bought (even before my son was born) was The Monster at the End of This Book..I loved it as a kid, and had to have it for my kids!!
I was told kind of a funny story about Grover. When we were kids, I had (and still do, somewhere.. ::)) a stuffed Grover, and my sister had Cookie Monster. Anyway, we took them all over with us. Well one time we were camping, and we had one of those campers with the bed up top..anyhow, I had my Grover in bed with me. My mom was also sleeping up there, as it were. She said she woke up somewhere over the course of the night/early morning, and was face-to-face with that huge pink nose and big plastic eyes staring right back at her! She said it took her a minute to realize it was just my stuffed Grover. A bit jarring, I'm sure! ;D

Grover and Oscar!
Subject: Re: Favorite Sesame Street Character
Wow. I'm suprised there's so many votes for Grover. I woulda thunk Cookie Monster or Bert would be most popular.
That being said, Grover is atop my list. ;D From Super Grover, to the waiter. Always cracked me up.
Marci, did you ever see the sequel "Another Monster At The End Of This Book?" I noticed it at work a couple years ago, but never picked it up. The original is definately a MUST HAVE for any child.
Subject: Re: Favorite Sesame Street Character
My favorite character never made it into the 80's. He was intruduced in the 70's and very quickly dissapeared (and if you have small kids, the why will be obvious.
His name was "Sam The Machine". He was as tall as Big Bird, if not taller, and when he was talking, he would always get "stuck". Kind of like a skipping record. "Hi, I'm Sam. I'm a machine...a machine...a machine". The only way to fix him, was to give him a good whack.
Yeah, I thought you'd see why he went away so fast.
For permanent characters, I love Grover (and SuperGrover) and Oscar the Grouch.
The Monster At The End Of This Book, and Another Monster At The End Of This Book, are two of the greatest kids' books ever! ;D

I'm not sure...I do seem to recall seeing it somewhere, but as I remember it had Elmo in it too... ??? Was that it? It must've not been too memorable to me, since I'm not totally sure I remember it! My daughter absolutely loved Elmo when she was little, but he (sorry) kind of annoyed me. I mean we still got her a lot of the toys (yes, even that blasted "Tickle Me Elmo" ::) ) and a few videos and stuff, but thankfully she grew out of the "phase"! ;)

I love the count!
"You really couldn't get the Count into any long-term plots because he really only did one thing, but he certainly did it well. I think many children learned to count purely on the off chance that they could summon thunder and lightning by doing so."
I really don't know why I like(d) him so much, but I always looked forward to seeing him come on. Maybe it was his laugh "ah ah ah ah ah!" Or maybe the hilarious repetativeness of his "Do you know why they call me "the count"? Because I love to count things!"
Subject: Re: Favorite Sesame Street Character
You're right, Chris (Jinky? Which one shall I call you?) Anyway... my main problem with Count, the guy that loved to count, is he loved to do nothing more than justify his reasons for counting, themselves plenty, but never, presumably, enough.
Subject: Re: Favorite Sesame Street Character
I love Forgetful Jones.He must've forgot to take his ginko biloba.(I forgot,da-he-ha!) ;D -howard-(I'm so funkee!)

Love, Love, Love!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Subject: Re: Favorite Sesame Street Character
Hi Becky,
So interesting you should mention this. The real spelling of the word is "Snuffalupagus" - or, in some places "Snuffalupugus". See, my sieve doesn't forget EVERYTHING!
I can't remember who answered this question for me back on the original boards, but thanks!

Mine too. And Kermit. Loved me my Kermit.
I hate that the grown-ups can see Snuffleupagus now. I mean, I know, I know, don't give kids the impression that adults won't believe them, but still. I loved knowing as a kid that somebody got the whole idea of an imaginary friend's "reality".
