It was a cop show starring John Ritter. I think it aired during '85, or '86, & lasted only 1 season if that, I beleive. ???

I believe it to be Hooperman as well. The show was actually good but didn't pull in the ratings. People were just too accustomed to seeing John Ritter playing the loveable dork Jack Tripper on Three's Company. :)

It was definitely Hooperman (confirmed Three's Company addict speaking).
