Subject: Best Late 70's/Early 80's artists?

Written By: Criz on 05/31/02 at 07:54 a.m.

Was just thinking of the 'cross-over' decade bands/singers there are, which were good in this time period:

- The Police
- Blondie
- Elvis Costello & The Attractions
- The Clash
- The Jam
- David Bowie

Any others which have probably slipped my mind? :)

Journey
Gary Numan
The Cure
B-52's (I prefer their early material)
Michael Jackson (Off the Wall is a great album!)

I think now I'd have to go with Off The Wall.   Don't get me wrong; Thriller is a great album, but I'd rather listen to OTW nowadays.

Now, between the songs "Don't Stop ('til You Get Enough)" and "Wanna Be Startin' Somethin'"; that's a tough choice.  I remember a few years ago my friends & I were talking about how great WBSS is; just a very infectious groove with the same 4-count baseline throughout the entire song...

Level 42 (they came out around 1980-1... released Love Games)
Blondie
The Jam
Police

Bob Seger

Toto (an awesome group!)
Dan Fogelberg
Cliff Richard (you don't hear much about him anymore but I always thought he had a great singing voice!)

Loverboy.

They were pretty hot in 1981/82.

Boz Scaggs was good too...1977, 1978  Silk Degrees.

Ac/DC was fun in like 1980.  Maybe at that time, we were listening to their old stuff...I don't know.  We liked it!

Great song! Although have to say I thought 'Letters To Cleo' did a *slightly* better version - probably think that beacuse I heard the cover before the original :)

I was partial to Blondie and Sheena Easton...primarily because I remember roller skating to them at the roller rink in my white roller skates with the colored pom poms on the toes with the bells!   8)

Most definitly I agree with you there. 'Tempted' and 'Black Coffee In Bed' are my favourites.
