Subject: What proggy do you all use?

Written By: Arcfire (Guest) on 05/18/02 at 03:38 p.m.

Well since Napster bit the dust as far as freeware to obtain MP3 versions of songs that they allready own *Cough cough*
What programs are you all using now?

I am using KaZaa since it has almost the exact feel as Napster did but is limited to 128 bit files (just below CD-redbook audio quality).. I have found a way to change this but the point is mute since everyone has to make the change for it to work properly. I have tried Bearshare and others but its like typing into the altavista search engine you get 400 hits but not exactly what you are looking for  :P

I like Audiogalaxy but the program is filled with spyware, so I use the Ad-Aware program from Lavasoft to remove it.  However, Audiogalaxy is becoming a lot like Napster in its final days; with a lot of stuff blocked.  I also like WinMX.  I found no spyware in the program, and it works a lot like Napster; and you can find anything and everything with it.

Definately WinMX.  No other program even comes close IMO.  I'm not sure I care for the updated release, though.  Basically the same, but different, you know?  Their Jedi mind tricks wont work on me, though!

Right now I'm using ver.2.6.  Ver.3.1 is available and I have tried it, but I went back to my old version which I had backed-up.

I like WinMX! but as with bearshare it gives back anything associated with the words entered, I really like Kazaa and think it COULD have been the best successor to Napster but with a top bit rate of 128 (unless edited), ads added in makes it a close second. I like the search of Kazaa better also.

But maybe i just need to get used to WinMX
