Subject: bartender looking for 80's drinks and ideas
Hi,
I am a bartender from CT and I love the 80's. So, I am planning an 80's night every thursday night at the bar, however, I need help! Drinks, cheap things to put on bar (like rubik's cubes) CD's etc.? ???
Does anyone have any ideas? Also, need a really good name for it, as it will be advertised on the radio!
thanks! :D

The movie was popular in the 80s and the drink was too, (at least it was here in Montréal), so why don't you work your theme night around the Tequila Sunrise?

I like the "stump the dj" idea from the 80's night page, here.
As for drinks, I remember three very clearly. Wine coolers, and two mixed drinks that were called "Sex On The Beach" and "Fuzzy Navel". They may be older than that, and they may still be around, (or even under a different name.) Unfortunately, I cannot remember what they were made of.
A lot of bright, neon, glow-in-the-dark, colors would evoke the 80's nicely, too. Almost everything had at least one item in a neon color variation.
Good luck with your plans!

Ooh! I just had a flash for the name.
There is a song, I think by Kool and the Gang, called "Ladies Night". You could go with a kareoke version and change the words a bit to "Eighties Night".
original: "Oh, yes it's ladies' night, and the feelin's right. Oh yes it's ladies' night, oh what a night."
change it to: "Oh, yes it's eighties night, and the feelin's right. Oh yes it's eighties night, oh what a night."
I hope you know the song I'm thinking of.

Watch Cocktail with Tom Cruise...that should give you lots of pointers to a bar in the 80's
And I agree....Fuzzy Navel and Sex on the Beach were two big drinks..I was gonna post them myself. Orange Juice drinks were big in the 80's

Fuzzy Navel-Orange Juice and Peachtree Shnapps! Some people put a little vodka in it also. It's probably my fave mixed drink!

Hey!
Thanks for all of the responses!
I am definitely going to do the Fuzzy Naval and sex on the beach. I came up with others, singapore sling, the alabama slammer and the woo woo!
I can't have a DJ, not in the budget, so I am going to go and get more 80's CD's ( i have alot) but I need more.
If anyone lives in CT, come and see me at Captains Cove!
Thanks again, ;D
