Subject: American Bandstand's 50th Anniversary
I've been watching the 50th Anniversary of American Bandstand and it's been great. They showed lots of clips of the acts and dancers from the 80s. Michael Jackson performed and Kiss rocked the house! It brought back a lot of memories, as my biggest dream as a kid was to dance on AB!!! The jam session at the end had some mighty big names! And Dick Clark proved he is indeed preserved in formaldehyde and looks the same as he has for the past four decades!

Agreed. I just watched it too. My take is that all of the bands lip-synched, with the possible exception of the final "super-all-star has-been" supergroup. Where would the recording of that exist for them to mime too???

From what I recall, almost all of the acts that appeared on AB back in the day lip synched their songs. The same went for Solid Gold. The only performer that I recall who actually sang live was Stevie Nicks, who did a live performance of "Stand Back" that really rocked the house! Stevie would never lip synch; she doesn't have to, with that voice! ;D

So you're saying that Hall and Oates did when they where on there. I don't think so.

Uh, I don't know if they did or didn't! I was just making a general statement about the policy of the shows regarding lip synching...

I really enjoyed the anniversary show. It brought back lots of memories of Saturdays spent watching American Bandstand while at my dad's house. I had forgotten how much I really liked it until I saw last night's special!

The show was great! I think they could of done a better job with what they showed for the 80s. No big deal though. I liked the show alot. I loved AB when it was on!!
