Here's a little (well, 25 q's!) quiz for all of you 80's music buffs. I've allready had some sucess with my lyrics one - so hopefully others will be up for this one 2 - I'll keep it fairly short and post the answers soon. Here goes :)

1. What was the name of the New Order song which spent nearly a year in the charts?

2. The writers of Spitting Image's, 'The Chicken Song' also wrote which, sci-fi British Comedy?

3. Terri Nunn is the lead singer of which band?

5.  Who was Marvin Gaye shot by?

6. The only band who have had a number 1 hit single in the 70's, 80's, and 90's is?

13. Who originally recorded, 'Tainted Love'? (You all should know this by now!)

14. ''For a strange kind of fashion, there's a wrong and a right.'' Who sang 'The Riddle' originally?

15. ''No sex, no drugs, no wine no women, no fun, no sin, no wonder it's dark.'' What is the next line in this song?

16. Who sings, 'But say a prayer, pray for the other ones' in this section of the Band Aid single, 'Do they know it's Christmas'?

17. Who wrote 'Our Lips Are Sealed?' (Need both names)

18. Which song by The Police is about a stalker?

19. And which is about prostitution?

20. Roxy Music covered which John Lennon song?

3. Berlin

4. "Into The Groove"

7. Tiffany

8. "Panic"

10. "Human Nature"

11. only know 2 of the 3:

    b.  ...back in the summer of '69.
    c.  Sexcrime, 1984

12.  Communards?

16.  George Michael

18.  "Every Breath You Take"

21.  Cyndi Lauper - "Time After Time"

23. The Housemartins

Still failed the quiz in at 48% (assuming #12 is correct, and I didn't count #11)

Yes, I know - but it was still in the charts and had a lot of airplay in 1980 - so to an extent, I kinda consider it an 80's hit

I'll guess the answer to #6 is Genesis.  Although I'm only assuming they had a #1 in the 70's, and I believe one of the crappy singles they had in the early 90's made #1.

I just thought that I heard the fact on British radio, about the only band to have a no 1in the 70's, 80's and 90's - so it might just be a British number 1, although I'm not positive :-/. I could give you a clue, the band were American and they had many hits in the late 70's and early 80's.

I don't think anyone knows the Morrissey question!

These quiz's are fun but maybe if everyone was limited to 2 answers only than everyone could get a chance to answer?  :-/
:D
Just a suggestion. ;)

Hmm, good suggestion Rapture - I'll do that for my next set of questions.

I might aswell give you the last 2 answers, as the others have been answerd in previous posts.

The band who have had British number 1 in the 70's, 80's and 90's ( I think it is British as the answer is def not Genisis and Hall and Oates - as they didn't in all 3 decades in England) is...Blondie! (Sunday Girl, Heart of Glass - 70's, Atomic, Tide Is High - 80's, Maria - 90's )

And Morriessys influence for writing 'Panic' was that after a news item on radio1 about the Hillsborough disaster, they immeditaly played, Wham - I'm Your Man, and he was furious at the thought.

I'll post second set of questions later today :)
