Subject: Dexie's Midnight runners?
I was just listening to Back Trax USA, and the DJ said that this group would often get into fist fights because the lead singer didn't like how the rest of the band would dress on stage. In fact this is the main reason they broke up. I thought they were the pasty gross band. Am I on drugs, or was he?

Didn't like the way they dressed? What, did they shower beforehand?
Or did they all put on shirts so we couldn't see the men's pit hair?
Jeez, Louise! "Come on, Eileen, Oh, I swear, take a bath please, more than once a year..."
Yep, that's them...pasty, filthy...my fave word...
YUCK!!!!

Thanks for the laugh, Banasy.
I agree, I just rolled my eyes and wondered if he had a mirror.

In answer to various things that have come up in this thread.Kevin Rowland is actually a transvestite and likes to dress in womens clothes. The 'gypsy' look was just for 'Come on Eileen'.Yes I would say it's more likely to be him that was on drugs. What's wrong with men's armpit hair??Oh and it's Dexy's not Dexies.

And on the subject of Come On Eileen, if you ever get to see the film clip again, Eileen was wearing a 'bib and brace' style pair of overalls
Watch for the bit where she gets twirled around to see what pops out by mistake !!! Here's to Centrifugal force !

I like the song "Come On Eileen," but the band is pretty skanky, IMO :-/

I was just discussing among friends the other day about breaking a comp CD in front of a patron who incessantly requested Dexy's overplayed song.... ;D

I didn't think the post was brusque. Took absolutely no offense, it struck me as a correction in the spelling. No biggie. ;D

What a stupid reason for a band to break up. Now if it was something like the singer doing a pop song, the guitar player playing heavy metal, the drummer playing reggae, and the bass player playing video games, then that would make sense.
Unfortunately, a lot of people in the music industry have unnaturally enlarged egos.
