Subject: Arcade Memories & A Piece Of Video-Game History
I literally blew hundereds of dollar$ in arcades in the 80's and thoroughly enjoyed it. It was one of my favorite passtimes!
There was absolutely nothing better than a date with Ms. Pac-Man, Space Invaders, Galaga, Super Pac-Man, Donkey Kong, Asteroids, Dig-Dug,.... (the lists goes on and on.... :o ;D) after school.
My neighborhood arcade was the coolest place on Earth. One could get their favorite drinks and snacks and listen to their favorite 80's music playing in the backround too! Ahhh.... the memories.
I found this link a while back for those of you who may be interested in the evolution of the arcade video-game:

Enjoy! :)

I remember when my step-sister worked at Golf-n-Stuff and she used to load my pockets with tokens. I used to go there daily. Course I slacked off in one of my classes as a result and had to go back and work my butt off the second quarter :P

Thanks for the link, Hairspray. Those were great times. I spent much of my free time in the early 80's at the local arcade, bowling alley, Peter Piper Pizza or 7-Eleven (the weekend clerk at 7-11 was an older lady who would give us quarters to try out new games as they got them in). Golf-n-Stuff was a real treat for me.
Of course, now I suck at today's videogames...

;D Pokey, I like your idea. I remember those days. This is funny. When we were kids and we used to stay at my grandparents on the weekend. We used to go to the bowling alley down the street and play the pinball games everyday all day. We weren't the richest kids around so we would go to the local supermarket and help people with their bags to the car and they would pay us 25 cents or 50 cents. This is in the 70's of course and then after making a couple bucks we would go to the bowling alley and play the pinball machines. One day we discovered if you pick up the front of the machine and drop it the machine would start to give us free games. This is on the old mechanical machines. Needless to say we would get in trouble for doing that. So then we thought about it and discovered that if we get pennies and pound them with a hammer we could make slugs and that would work also. Pretty funny? O.K. maybe not but it worked. My all time favorite video game is Galaga. My nephew has it on Nintendo. I still play it.

I like pinball machines very much!!! I still remember vividly the "Tron", "Charlie's Angels" and "The Terminator" ones.

Oh, actually this is the link I posted exclusively on Pac-Man and the like:
*Note
This link will take you to a site that is purely a joke and nothing more. It gets funnier as you read on. It's at its funniest toward the end. I found it to be hilarious! Especially the artistic "blasphemy". :D :D :D

Oh, thank you, thank you, thank you! I was missing my Church of Pac Man! Thought I'd have to go without a weekly service, very tough to do when one wants to be a bishop!
I miss the old arcades. That's why I got MAME. I play these games all the tme here. Not the same as actually being in the arcade, though...
