Subject: Toto's, "Hold the Line" & Starship's "Jane"
I love the piano in the background of these songs, they're straight up rock tunes, with a somewhat repetitive piano background in them.. not like Billy Joel or Tori Amos piano playing.. much less complex.. like someone just banging one or two keys over and over again...
can anyone think of similar songs?

The was a song in the 70's by an Aussie band called Blackfeather called "Boppin' The Blues" which was mainly piano riffs (if you can riff a piano). I suspect it wasn't heard outside Australia except maybe in the U.K. ?
There's also the middle part of Thunderclap Newman's * "Something In The Air".
* Not to be confused with Thundervamp 9 ! Beware of imitations !

I'd have thought a fair amount of Abba tracks would count with good old Benny pounding away on the piano!!

Pretty much anything by Bruce Hornsby and the Range, though some of it is complex. "Everything" by When in Rome is good too.

Doesn't Genesis' song 'Misunderstanding' have some piano in the background? I could be wrong...

LMAO!!!
That's right. If I leave something in the air, you can bet it won't be confused with a thunderclap...
