Subject: Playing with chart info can depress you....

I've got a cool spreadsheet of the top 100 of the 80s, everything that hit the top 100 charts during the 80s, with peak chart position, weeks on chart, etc.

I did a sort by name, and Bruce Willis, had three songs on the charts during the 80s... what the heck is up with that? How in the world did he do that? Eddie Murphy only had two songs (and granted "Party All The Time" did make it to number 2 which is a lot higher than anything Bruce Willis did), and Burt Reynolds only had one.. very scary stuff... heck, Yoko Ono even made the charts.. there must have been some slow weeks for record sales at one point...

what was interesting, is that "Tainted Love" spent 43 weeks on the charts (the longest for the 80s), and took the longest with 27 weeks to reach it's peak position at #8.. seems kinda sad it never made it higher..

I never cared much for "Tainted Love" but it is sad that it only made #8 considering that it's become somewhat of a cult classic.  As for Mr. Willis, I agree with you....do you remember the old Seagrams Golden Wine Coolercommercials where he sang....or tried to ::)

;D ;DWell,#8 is still top 10.I think it's sad that "On the Wings Of a Nightingale"by the Everly Brothers only made #50.It was way better than a lot of the stuff out at the time. >:(But i really do like "Tainted Love". ;DDid you see that hilarious commercial a few years ago with the doctors and the guy being operated on all singing along to it? :o :oA classic!!! :D :DCheers!

Aye Bruce Willace had his album "Return of Bruno" '89 which was a one hour show on either VH-1 or MTV about how he was a returning musician.... The album was pretty good I still take it out and play it every now and then. Don Johnson also had an album out at the same time

Can anyone else remember any TV or Movie celebs that made albums? Rick Springfield was one, there were other soap opera stars that did as well

I LOVE Tainted Love. I do remember Eddie Murphy's "Party all the Time." I also remember he did another song called "Rumors" or did he do the parady called "Roaches"? Can't remember.

Yeah, Europeans buy all kinds of crazy stuff!! Every time you see an ad on TV at 2:30 in the morning for some totally unknown musician (like Zamphir on the Pan Flute) it always says "sold millions in Europe!!".
Why do Europeans buy all this crazy stuff???
Do they know something that us Americans over here sitting under the Stars&Stripes don't know?
