Subject: Same title, different song
This was one of my favorite threads that was wiped out. So I'm starting this again.
The rules are simple. You must name at least two songs, both having the same title, that are not the same song. And one song must have been a hit in the 1980's. Here are some examples:
Don't Be Cruel--Elvis Presley/Cheap Trick
Don't Be Cruel--Bobby Brown
Wild Thing--The Troggs
Wild Thing--Tone Loc
Rag Doll--The 4 Seasons
Rag Doll--Aerosmith
1-2-3--Len Barry
1-2-3--Gloria Estefan
Shout--The Isley Brothers/Joey Dee & the Starliters/Lulu & the Luvers/Otis Day & the Knights (the latter from National Lampoon's Animal House)
Shout--Tears for Fears
Only the Lonely--Roy Orbison
Only the Lonely--The Motels
Words--The Monkees
Words--The Bee Gees
Words--Missing Persons
Heart & Soul--classic song that's most played on pianos and used in the Quaker Oats commercials; also a hit in the 1960's for the Cleftones and for Jan & Dean (their biggest hit for Challenge Records; they then went to Liberty Records and had a string of hits there)
Heart & Soul--Huey Lewis & the News
Heart & Soul--T'Pau
Talking in Your Sleep--Crystal Gayle
Talking in Your Sleep--The Romantics
Sara--Fleetwood Mac
Sara--(Jefferson) Starship
Promises, Promises--Dionne Warwick
Promises, Promises--Naked Eyes
(A weirdness on the above: Naked Eyes remade Dionne Warwick's "Always Something There to Remind Me," but their song "Promises, Promises" is not a cover of the Dionne Warwick song of the same name!)
Call Me--Chris Montez (originally written for and recorded by Petula Clark; Chris Montez had the hit with it)
Call Me--Blondie
Cherish--The Association/David Cassidy
Cherish--Kool & the Gang
Cherish--Madonna
Dancing in the Dark--song written by Cole Porter
Dancing in the Dark--Bruce Springsteen
Dreams--Fleetwood Mac
Dreams--Van Halen
Venus--Frankie Avalon
Venus--The Shocking Blue/Bananarama
Vacation--Connie Francis
Vacation--The Go-Go's
Lies--The Knickerbockers
Lies--The Thompson Twins
Jump--Van Halen
Jump--Kris Kross
(BTW, the correct title of the Pointer Sisters song is "Jump (for My Love).")
Lady--Styx
Lady--Little River Band
Lady--Kenny Rogers
(Also, the Commodores had a hit in the 1980's with "Lady (You Bring Me Up).")
Magic--Pilot
Magic--Olivia Newton-John
Magic--The Cars
Our House--Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young
Our House--Madness
Something About You--The Four Tops
Something About You--Level 42
Tempted--Squeeze
Tempted--Marty Stuart
The Look of Love--Lesley Gore

We're Not Gonna Take It--Twisted Sister
Amanda--Don Williams
Amanda--Boston
Talk Talk--The Music Machine
Talk Talk--Talk Talk
Holiday--The Bee Gees
Holiday--Madonna
Good Thing--Paul Revere & the Raiders
Good Thing--Fine Young Cannibals
Just Between You & Me--Charley Pride
Just Between You & Me--April Wine
Cadillac Ranch--Bruce Springsteen
Cadillac Ranch--Chris LeDoux
Games People Play--Joe South
Games People Play--The Spinners (the title was changed to "They Just Can't Stop It, the (Games People Play)" so as not to be confused with the Joe South song)
Games People Play--The Alan Parsons Project
Stuck on You--Elvis Presley
Stuck on You--Lionel Richie
The Wanderer--Dion
The Wanderer--Donna Summer
Rock of Ages--hymn
Rock of Ages--Def Leppard
Now see if you can name some more.
