Subject: That 80's Show (again!)...
Well, I got to watch it for the first time last night. I was not too impressed. It was kind of cool seeing the styles and all, but the actors/actresses seemed like they were acting too hard. Does that make sense? I guess they need better actors....IMO.
Anyone's opinion changed since last weeks show?

I liked this one better than the first. I still don't like Sophia. I don't know if it is the actress or the character. She seemed to have changed from the first episode, or they just didn't show her enough thr first time. She was too dumb. The story seemed to mesh better this time. It is fun to see all the old fashions, and hear the music. Hopefully it will continue to improve.

I don't like Sophia, either...although her scene with the Asian dude (can't remember his name...) at the club was funny. The scenes at the club were funny in both episodes, if for no other reason than watching everyone dance and moan over romance troubles. Margaret (the record store owner) and the Asian dude are funny characters. I think Katie's character is good, too; I also love her outfits and think she's a cutie.
Some of the jokes seem really forced and the writing still seems fairly pedestrian. Did the actor who plays the father base his character on Al Bundy? He has the same delivery/body expression (minus the hand in pants) that Al had.
Not liking the Corey/Tuesday storyline...although it does give a chance for Margaret to have some funny lines.

Last night was my first viewing...Wasn't all too funny. Sophia's dance moves at the club were recognizable. "That 70's Show" is better IMO but I'll have to check out another episode or two to give it a chance...

the best bits for me, was the very end when we find out who sent the chocolates. "Robert, I gotta tell you, this new band the Honeydrippers, it's dripping right into my 99 cent bin"...
while I like that album, it still seems quite appropriate..
The Tuesday/Corey story line looks like it's supposed to be pivotal to the show, kinda like the Donna/Eric story line from That 70s Show, talk about repeating a formula.. it's certainly not any better the second time around.. too predictable..
both Corey's sister and former girlfriend are way too dumb to be believable at this point.. Katie is cute, but is way too perky and not too bright.. personally I think you're only allowed one stupid character per sitcom.. like Chrissy on Three's Company..
the father is just awful.. the best characters are still the minor characters, the record store owner and the asian guy.. can we just give them their own show?

Is the actor that plays the Dad the same guy who played the Dad on that show with the puppet that was "voice supplied" by Bobcat Goldwaithe? (a 90's show) I completely agree with macdaddy...he seems to be molded after Al Bundy. ::)
I did like the club scene though. The dancing style was fun to see again :)

Yes, he was on Unhappily Ever After. I liked this episode, it's getting better, IMHO. BTW, This was actually Episode 4 moved up at the last minute. It does remind me of Eric and Donna, they're what got me to watch That '70s Show. It's just not the same since they broke up, so I'm kind of glad Corey and Tuesday are hitting it off.

I'm still waiting and hoping for it to improve.

My favorite line way something to the extent of "Since it's Valentine Day, all love songs are half off, and anything by The Romantics is free."
I have to say the shop keeper is easily the best character on there (though the asian guy is decent). She remind anyone else of Roseanne (the sarcastic wit, the mind games with the others...)?

Great minds think alike! When I was watching it last night, I was wondering if Roseanne had a sister or something! They even look similar! ;D

All in all, I would have to say that the second episode of That 80s Show was better than the premiere. I actually laughed a few times during the second show and I found myself liking the characters more. I find Katie's voice to be a bit annoying, however. And making Sophia so sexually aggressive isn't exactly pleasant, either. I mean, take a hint, girl, Katie's not interested. I think Roger is a hoot and I loved the dance sequence at the club, with Bow Wow Wow's "I Want Candy" playing. The dad is annoying, at least to me, and he should be a tough a$$, like Red Forman on That 70s Show. The burgeoning relationship between Corey and Tuesday has great potential. I also got a big kick at the end, when it turned out that Robert Plant had sent the chocolates to Margaret and she dissed his Honeydrippers' material... It still needs to improve a great deal and quickly, or else this show is going to get the ax....

I was not impressed with the first episode at all..I didn't get to see the second but if you say it was better than the first one then I will give one more try.

Like others here, I wasn't impressed with the first show, which is the only one I've seen, so far. The characters struck me as being too aware of themselves, as if to say, "Look at me, I'm on an 80's retro show, let me find some way to act like I'm in the 80's..." Not subtle enough for me. I suppose it's not easy to squeeze and entire decade into a 30 minute slot. : )
I do like the nod to "Pretty In Pink" with the record store set.
In all fairness, I'll check it out again.
