Subject: did anyone see this movie from the eighties??
I saw a movie in the eighties and I can't remember the name of it.
I can only remember parts of it, so I'll give a VERY brief synopsis of what I remember.
A guy and a girl get information that the world might possibly end very soon and they are trying to do something about it. (that part i'm pretty hazy on, can't remember much. "oldtimers" must be settin' in)
The thing that will make you remember seeing this movie if nothing else is this....
At the end, their car lands in a Tar Pit in (L.A?). The movie ends as the car is sinking and the world around them is going to hell in a handbasket.
I know this is very little to go on, but it is honestly all I remember. Anyone remember the name of this movie? E-mail me!! I'm dying to find it so I can see if it is as good as I remember (or don't remember rather) it.

I think you are talking about the movie Miracle Mile, starring Anthony Edwards (Dr. Mark Green, ER) and Mare Winningham. The plot is that Anthony Edwards picks up a pay telephone where a young man in the US military is trying to reach his father to tell him that a nuclear war is about to begin but the man dialed the wrong number. He then has to convince these strangers in a diner in LA that nuclear war is about to begin. He desperately tries to reach his girlfriend (Mare Winningham) in the ensuing madness. He finally reaches her and they plan to leave LA in a helicopter, but the warheads strike and the helicopter (not a car) crashes into LA's La Brea Tar Pits. This movie came out in 1988 and is a pretty good movie, with great and effective performances by Anthony Edwards and the always fantastic Mare Winningham. Hope this helps!!! :)

No, it definitely does not fall under the category of comedy, Tish!!! ;D It's actually a very good apocalyptic drama!!!
