Subject: Bad News! "Try To Remember"-The Fantasticks (Play)

This play ran through the 1980's, so it is pertinent to this board.
The play "The Fantasticks" will come to a close after 42 years running. It is the longest running play ever. It is also closing at a poignant time in our lives.
The song "Try To Remember" is the most popular of the play.
If you read the lyrics and if you ever hear the song and listen, you will no doubt find it somber, for it reflects many of the thoughts many of us have since the tragedy of September 11, 2001.
The songs lyrics are as follows:

Does anyone know what the word "follow" in the song is in reference to? Like, "Follow" what? ???

Yes - the folks usually bring it out during Karaoke.
Unfortunately, Hong Kong English being what it is, sometimes the lyrics don't quite match the actual words ::)
I presume the "follow" means something like "follow your heart" - that is, live your life as you did back in more innocent times.
I feel vaguely uncertain that the final line is "followed" by some more lyrics in a performance I've heard, but that could be just me...
