My Europe manicness aside, if I remember rightly, my fave female at the time was MERYL STREEP (LOL!) and fave male was BASIL FAWLTY (John Cleese).
I may need to update that now though... :-/

OMG...My sister was and still is madly in love with John Schneider..I remember her room was nothing but pictures of him and she has every album he ever made,he was cute but I wasn't a fanatic like she was/is...in fact I almost forgot about him,thanks for the memory

Female - a toughie. I think I will have to go for Aussie actress Sigrid Thornton. To me she epitomised the "gutsy" woman and had dominating roles in TV, Mini Series and Movies.

I don't know thats tough. If I grew up watching MTV or something in the 80's I would have liked Downtown Julie Brown(I still think she's hot), Jody Watley(I have seen clips of her video's from back in the day(she was gorgeous)and Sussana Hoffs of the Bangles(she looks good for her age still and she even looked better back then.) I also like Aaylisa Milano because I grew up watching "Who's The Boss". Favorite males not in terms of looks because I don't go that way but musically. Dave Gahan(Depeche Mode made some innovative music in the 80's.) Simon LeBon(Duran Duran did good stuff musically but they don't beat out D'Mode) George Micheal-I know some of the tatics he had done a few years ago were not appropiate but musically he had some good songs. Lionel Richie- Nobody writes a love song like him and sings like him.

In retrospect my choices would be different but at the time, the 80's to me were dominated by.....
Male - Bruce Willis, especially from the Moonlighting days and
Woman - Julie Walters, an English actress, was the most fabulous actress through the 80's.

I'm going to go for the untraditional here...
BUT I will choose Tom Cruise as the big man, he practically defined the "leading man" category in the 80s with turns in Risky Business, Top Gun, Rain Man and Born On The Fourth of July. A great actor and a recognizable face and a cool name rolled into one :)
For the women though, I think either Virginia Madsen or Cynthia Rothrock. Beautiful, underrated actresses/action heroes :)

For the man of the 80's, I would go against the popular poll of Tom Cruise and say Michael J. Fox. Not only did he have a great series in Family Ties, but he had "Back to the Future" along with "Bright Lights, Big City".
For the woman of the 80's, I would pick Modonna as probably being the most popular in the decade. However, Debrah Winger is at the top of my list with two great movies, "An Officer and a Gentleman" and "Terms of Endearment". She was great in those two roles.

Hmm! I think the 80s was dominated by greats like Michael J Fox and Michael Keaton but for me, I think Bill Murray is the man that makes me love the 80s! I so loved Caddyshack, Ghostbusters, Scrooged and the slightly overated Ghostbusters 2.
My fave girl? Well . . . Madonna dominated the 80s and I liked the music but I couldn't 'connect' with her. I preferred women like Linda Lusardi and Samantha Fox (both pin-up models). The woman I'm going to go for though is Sinitta. With S/A/W, she had a string of hits from 1986-1990. I loved her songs (an influence from my mum) and she had a bubbly personality - lovely.
