Just shoot me.

Battle of the Planets consisted of a group of teens who lived in this base under an island, I believe. When the call came in, they took off in their spaceship that, when they activated it's special feature, glowed with fire, called the Fiery Pheonix. May have that name of the ship wrong now.

I remember some kind of space ship that when they pulled the special lever, it turned into a fiery phoenix. The ship turned into a bird? The fog...... memory...... cloudy...... ;)
It may be the same thing and I just have it all backwards.
Subject: Re: List Of Favorite 80's Cartoons
That was it. SOunds right. It would turn into a flaming bird.

GET OUT!!! You mean to tell me I got that right?! You've brought me the glorious gift of trust in my own memory. Thanks again! ;)
Subject: Re: List Of Favorite 80's Cartoons
Good to know you're not going senile, eh? And here I thought I'VE been, being the only one who remembers that show. I also loved Saturday afternoon Crature Double Features on that channel. I especially remember Giant Robot...
Subject: Re: List Of Favorite 80's Cartoons
ThunderVamp, it is also known as G-Force. One of my favorites.
G-Force & Battle Of The Planets vary just slightly, (voices, maybe names, base location) but otherwise, same show.
BOTP was the best. I have an issue of the comic locked away somewhere. Funny thing is, I was just talking to a guy at work about BOTP yesterday. he doesn't remember it, but he's not yet 20, either...
Subject: Re: List Of Favorite 80's Cartoons
Transformers (it seems they WERE more than meets the eye)
I also watched Underdog, but I'm not sure if it originated in the 80s.

A comic, too? Now I'm gonna have to keep my eye out for that. I never heard of it before. :-/
Subject: Re: List Of Favorite 80's Cartoons
Thundercats and The Snorks in the 80s, Inspector Gadget in the 90s. Man, those shows were great.
Subject: Re: List Of Favorite 80's Cartoons
I always enjoyed the Snorks (natch, see my avatar), the Smurfs were cute if not annoying as well. I always liked the Penny cartoons from Pee-Wee's Playhouse, as well as the old cartoons the Cartoon King would bring to show Pee-Wee. Do those count? ;)
Subject: Re: List Of Favorite 80's Cartoons
I liked to watch Underdog, Mighty Mouse, Looney Tunes, Jabberjaw, Speed Buggy, Scooby Doo...I know these aren't 80's but I watched them with my father in the late 70's. By the time the 80's rolled around, I didn't watch many cartoons. I don't know why I was only 10, I guess they didn't catch my interest. G-Force and the like weren't the type of cartoons that would grab my attention. There were 2 that I would watch-Pac Man and Smurfs. :)
Subject: Re: List Of Favorite 80's Cartoons
There was a show called TerryToons with many cartoons included in a string of 'em like Mighty Mouse. They still showed them in the 80's.
Subject: Re: List Of Favorite 80's Cartoons
I remember something about TerryToons. I always used to be infuriated as a kid, not knowing who Terry was. And yes, my brain still thinks like that now.
Subject: Re: List Of Favorite 80's Cartoons
1. Star Blazers
2. G-Force
3. Voltron
4. Thundar
5. Speed Racer
Subject: Re: List Of Favorite 80's Cartoons
Let's see..
Battle Of The Planets
GI Joe
Thundarr The Barbarian
Godzilla (& Godzuki)
Laff-A-Lympics
just a short list. ;)
Subject: Re: List Of Favorite 80's Cartoons
Battle of the Planets is essentially the same as G-Force - they both are versions of a Japanese cartoon originally known as "Kagaku Ninjatai Gatchaman" - Science Ninja Team Gatchaman.
There is a third English-language version available ("Eagle Riders"), but the names got more and more ridiculous with each successive cut.
(You think it's dorky being an 80s fan? Try being a Japanese Animation fan! :) )

Subject: Re: List Of Favorite 80's Cartoons
My favorites were:
Battle Of The Planets
Star Blazers
Robotech
-and-
Captain Harlock and the Queen of 1000 Years--Even though it was originally two totally different series, badly spliced together, this was the one show that got me into Anime. I saw it somewhat before I discovered Robotech, which was three different series, but they were put together much better.
Subject: Re: List Of Favorite 80's Cartoons
I'd say Speed Racer, but if that was in the 70's, I'd have to go with the Smurfs. Smurfette--What a hottie!
Subject: Re: List Of Favorite 80's Cartoons
I was pretty young through out the 80's but my favorites were
Alvin and the Chipmunk
Jem and the Holograms
Rainbow Brite
Care Bears
Wuzzles
Gummi Bears
Jetsons
Snorks
I know theres more but cant think right now. it will come to me.
Subject: Re: List Of Favorite 80's Cartoons
Gosh, I cant believe I forgot the Get Along Gang!
I can still remember the tune to the Get Along Gang theme song.
and I can still remember the WORDS to the Wuzzles theme song.
"Here in the land of Wuz, they're having twice the fun,
Cause every single thing, is really two in one.
A little bit of this, a little bit of that,
and when you add it up, you get a LOT of wow.
Oh, they've got originality, living with a split personality
They're the wuzzles, oh yeah, they're the wuzzles, oh oh yeah.
Two tons of fun, wrapped up and rolled into one."
scary!
