Subject: Re: what was your favorite toy in the 80's ???
Table top Pac Man game from Coleco. And a watch that you could play Q-Bert on.
Subject: Re: what was your favorite toy in the 80's ???
I had a couple-
"Slime" and "Silly Putty" in the very early 80s, and "Simon" the electronic game in the mid 80s. After that I discovered music and it all went downhill from there!
Subject: Re: what was your favorite toy in the 80's ???
My favorite toy was a record player,it was in a blue box.I had alot of dolls but I really did'nt play with toy's that much,we lived out in the country so we were usually outside playing and listening to music.
Subject: Re: what was your favorite toy in the 80's ???
:) oh yeah I remember Pac Man and silly putty.I also had Simon and Super Simon.i remember having shoes roller skates.
Subject: Re: what was your favorite toy in the 80's ???
Rubik's Cube. (I bought a book to figure the damn thing out!)
Atari 2600 (played it to death, mainly the arcade games which looked nowhere near their arcade counterparts…)
Subject: Re: what was your favorite toy in the 80's ???
Roller Skates!
Subject: Re: what was your favorite toy in the 80's ???
I loved those Pippa dolls I had a few of those and Action Girl who due to the kind attention of my older brother was often to be found in compromising positions with Action man!
Subject: Re: what was your favorite toy in the 80's ???
Barbie. :P
To this day, when at a toy store, I head for the Barbie isle. ::) Thank-god I have a 4 yeare old niece. ;D
Subject: Re: what was your favorite toy in the 80's ???
My favorite "toy" would have to be my Commodore, since it allowed me to play Archon I & II, MULE, Mail Order Monsters, and lots of crpgs like Ultima, Bards Tale, and the AD&D games...
Course if you want an actual toy, I guess it would have to either Legos or Transformers... though I did have a lot of G.I. Joe too
Kryllith
PS: I guess this isn't actually a toy either, but I probably have/had more AD&D books/manuals/dice than all the previous stuff combined :P
Subject: Re: what was your favorite toy in the 80's ???
Definately strap on roller skates, and rubix cubes.
Plus (even tho I was 16) I secretly played chasey with my matchbox cars - I had the A Team corvette and black van !!!!
Subject: Re: what was your favorite toy in the 80's ???
The strap on roller skates were alright, until, at age 2, I fell over and broke my knees. Rubiks cubes were the best things ever. I've fiddled with them all the time, and I can't get them right, still...
Subject: Re: what was your favorite toy in the 80's ???
Don't even get me started. There were so many cool toys in the 80's. My personal favorite was Lite Brite. I also had an extensive collection of Barbie, CBK, Strawberry Shortcake, etc. We can't leave out Star Wars action figures, though. That Millenium Falcon was the coolest. And, last but not least, who can forget the Sit-n-Spin? I spun myself dizzy even after I outgrew the size.
Subject: Re: what was your favorite toy in the 80's ???
Strawberry Fruitcake? Seriously though, I never collected Star Wars memorabilia. And I used to use playground roundabouts to get myself dizzy. Worked every single time.
Subject: Re: what was your favorite toy in the 80's ???
I loved my Lite Brite in the 80s. I had a lot of My Little Ponies, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, "Fashion Plates", Q-bert, Pac-man. I miss the 80s....
Subject: Re: what was your favorite toy in the 80's ???
I had a "rad" mongoose BMX bike. It had shimano cranks, and some ridiculous tires, and other assorted totally un-nessacary crap. (sorry about the spelling)
Subject: Re: what was your favorite toy in the 80's ???

LOL.I also remember slime from my cousins too.i had a holly hobbie record player.it was white with blue trim.Other things would be atari.can you say pong??? I had a Holly Hobbie doll that was 3 feet tall. I loved that doll. I also had a Barbie motor home. It was great. Then one summer I went to Mexico on a school trip, and my mom went nuts in my room and threw away all my barbie stuff and a bunch of stuffed animals, including Hollie Hobbie :'(
Subject: Re: what was your favorite toy in the 80's ???
Oh my god!
I love the 80s sooo much!(even though i wasn't born 'till 85)
but my fav all time toys are lite brite and ninja turtles
i cried in grade 8(13 years old) when my mom sold my turtles :'( i still get a tear in my eye just thinking of them
Subject: Re: what was your favorite toy in the 80's ???
I had Donnie and Marie Osmond dolls and a Holly Hobbie doll, when I was younger. ::)
Subject: Re: what was your favorite toy in the 80's ???
Kelly, you know what, that is so weird. I used to have an extensive collection of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles too. I collected over 30 Michaelangelos, 70 Raphaels, (man, they were so much easier to collect), 50 Donatellos, and 15 Leonardos. I searched everywhere for more Leonardo merchandise, but I couldn't find any.
Subject: Re: what was your favorite toy in the 80's ???
A lot of Barbie. Along with Barbie, I also had a little orphan Annie doll, (from the movie) and Strawberry Shortcake dolls. See, in MY Barbie townhouse, Beauty Secrets Barbie and her man, Western Ken, had a bunch of kids. Lime Chiffon, Apple Dumplin', Huckleberry Pie, Apricot, and, of course, Annie. They all had names I made up for them, and every week or two they'd pile up in that little red corvette of theirs and go on vacation. Sad hunh? But I had quite an imagination, what can I say? :-MORE sisters? Isn't it about time Barbie and Ken just coughed up their own kids?? Jeez, Barbie's mom must be HOW old now??)
I also collected the Smurfs and had a bunch of the little plastic ones, along with the little houses to go with them. I liked those quite a bit.
But of all things, that of course I have NO idea where they are, I had a model of the Charlie's Angels van, a Charlie's Angels doll, and a zip cord Star Wars van..those were cool then and would likely be even MORE cool now.. :-/
Subject: Re: what was your favorite toy in the 80's ???
In the 80s, it would hafta be Star Wars ANYTHING. I also remember Buck Rogers In The 25th Century action figures. And The Black Hole & Star Trek The Motion Picture. I think I still have my Bones McCoy figure in my Darth Vader carry case.
I know this is more 70s, but anyone remember the Fisher Price Adventure People? Action figures in various themes: A jeep/canoe set, Motocross bikes, a boat w/ skiers & a shark or octopuss, etc.
I remember Fashion Plates. My cousin had it (along with every known Strawberry Shortcake toy known). I had a boys version, Mighty Men & Monster Maker. Years later, I'm dating my future wife, guess what her parents still have (& my kids now play with)? BOTH Fashion Plates & MM&MM! Small world.
Subject: Re: what was your favorite toy in the 80's ???
Star Wars anything is very good. Make sure you keep that stuff though, because its very collectable, and people always like comprehensive collections. More than that, it'll give you impetus to carry on.

I had a Snake Cube, I didn't like it as well as Rubik's though because you couldn't take it apart as easily and put it back together correctly...I guess I just gave away the secret to the Rubiks Cube ;)
edited to add:
I am a dork, I was thinking of the Rubik's ball (or whatever it was called). I had one of those, too and couldn't take it apart as easily as the cube. I did have a Snake Cube. I used to play with it in class, mine was one of the key chain ones.
Subject: Re: what was your favorite toy in the 80's ???
The snake cube! My god, I forgot all about that. I could take that puppy from a straight line to a ball in 8 seconds flat. My brother hated me for that.

I have many fond memories of The Snake Cube. It would be really cool if some of the people familiar with this toy can think of some of the things that could be done with it. I still have one!
I guess I'll start this on a new subject, so as to give the toy a little more exposure for people to recognize it. Some people may choose their subjects of interest to read sometimes, you know. Not me, though. I read 'em all!!! ;)
Subject: Re: what was your favorite toy in the 80's ???
Remember The Pyramid? I don't know if it was actually a Rubik's puzzle, but same concept. I couldn't finish a cube (without the aforementioned cube-surgery ;) ) but had no trouble with the Pyramid.
My grandfather would try his best to get it mixed-up, but I'd complete it before I left his house. ;D

I had one of those, too. I couldn't do those very well either. It is nice to know that I am not the only one who performed "surgery" to work them out. :)
Subject: Re: what was your favorite toy in the 80's ???
The Pyramid was a piece of cake compared to Rubik's Cube…
Subject: Re: what was your favorite toy in the 80's ???
Rubik's cubes are easy now I know how to do them. Isn't that always the case, though?

Does anyone remember those little mermaid dolls with the long hair? I used to have tons of those. I also had My Little Ponies, Strawberry Shortcake, Cabbage Patch Kids, and numerous GI Joes. But I really loved the coleco system, I used to play the smurf game non-stop!!
Subject: Re: what was your favorite toy in the 80's ???
My favorite toys were my Stretch Armstrong and Stretch Monster. I almost broke my hand punching them in their stomachs, they were as hard as boulders. ::)
Subject: Re: what was your favorite toy in the 80's ???
OK, I'll admit it. I was also heavily addicted to my COmmodore 64 and ColecoVision. I still have that thing. And until a few weeks ago, I still had my original Millenium Falcon.
Subject: Re: what was your favorite toy in the 80's ???
I have a Commodore 64 too. No games though. I just collect machines. I've got around 20 so far. Man, they were cheap.

You didn't sell the M. Falcon, did you? :o
I still have my Atari and Odyssey, both with many of the games. I always mention hooking them up and then don't. I did hook-up the original Nintendo and played the original Mario Bros. and Dig-Dug. I'm still good after all these years! ;D
Subject: Re: what was your favorite toy in the 80's ???
Yeah, I sold it. I needed money for rent and Christmas. Sold that and all the rest of my Star Wars and Star Trek ships.

Nope, got shafted. $500 worth of toy starships, and I only got $150. And I just couldn't afford to ask for more and risk not getting it.

Subject: Re: what was your favorite toy in the 80's ???
I was almost a teenager when the 80's came around. But I did get a dollhouse (Smaller Homes and Gardens house) that I loved! It's in the attic now, probably not in good shape LOL.
I also loved my Atari :)
Subject: Re: what was your favorite toy in the 80's ???
I used to collect Care Bears. I always wanted a Strawberry Shortcake but never got one :'( so I used to sit next to this girl in class that would let me play with hers. I used to sniff the hat all day. The good news is Strawberry Shortcake is supposed to be making a comeback. They are going to start selling the dolls again. Now I can sniff away in the privacy of my own home. ;D
