And then that that other Spice Girl (sorry, not sure of which one..Scary maybe?) named her kid Phoenix?  Sure, I know that's a mythical bird as well...but for TWO Spice Girls to use place names that you can find here in the states?? Peculiar.  ::)

I wouldn't be a bit surprised if you're right.  They so often just give them really "wierd", sorry, but they are wierd oftentimes, names..and the darned thing is, honestly, names most folks would never think to give a child, become popular just because they are stars' kids names.  I was actually on a baby name site the other night, and they had a messageboard for people to give names they liked, or had used, or were looking for names for upcoming babies--and a LOT of people wrote some of their favorite names as being stuff like Rumer, and Scout, and Ireland, and Milo, and about any other "star baby name" you can imagine.  If these stars are looking to be "original", they are certainly getting a lot of attention for their originality.  There was actually a section in a baby name book I had that listed star baby names...and though I agree that, as Bobo said, normal people shouldn't bully or tease kids because of their names, the problem is that kids can be really mean.  I think that while most of us try to raise our kids to be thoughtful and accepting, it's not always going to work out, and some parents may just not care at all.  All I'm saying is that if ANYONE tries to give their child a wierd or overly unusual name JUST to be "different", they are likely exposing their kids to a lot of crap at school. Unless, of course, they are going to homeschool their kids like Michael Jackson says he is going to do..  ::)

I agree on those two.  Though I don't like Lourdes personally, I agree that in Latin America it is popular, and thus not sounding strange to everybody.  And who can fault for someone naming their child regionally?  Her dad is spanish, isn't he? (just a ? as I'm not sure--it could be a family name, after all)  
But Rocco...yeah, to me it just doesn't "sound good".  Sounds like it should be a nickname as opposed to a given birth name.  And yeah, I certainly get that mafioso/street fighter feeling...but it totally makes me think of that one record (I think it was a record!) of her with the leather motorcycle hat and vest and the cigarette hanging out of her mouth--that is exactly what I thought of the minute I heard that baby's name!  And Guy Ritchie just doesn't look like that kind of guy, to me either, not that that matters.. ::)

That is what I though when I first found out what she named him.  I really do like the name Lourdes, though.  I had a friend with that name...very good memories.
