Subject: Gee, You're Hair Smells Terrific! Remember That?
Was that a 70's shampoo or 80's?
Any other products you can think of that are no longer available. Please, not from the Hometown Favorites site.

I remember, Gee, Your Hair Smells Terrific, Hairspray! My sister used to use it all the time. I think that it originally came out in the late 70s, but it was still around by the early-to-mid 80s! It did smell good!!! ;)

I also remember the shampoo Gee, Your Hair Smells Terrific! I believe it was in a purple bottle with different colored letters. Funny how that seems like soooo long ago now! I also remember the shampoo Prell, although I never could stand the smell of that one. I'm not sure if the latter is still on the market or not. I think it was green. :)

At the store that went out of business the other day, as I mentioned in a past post here, I found the original shampoo and conditioner bottles for Salon Selectives! Remember the cylindrical pink bottles? Remember the different combinations you could make? Today, Salon Selectives is in an all updated square-ish bottle with a whole different look and logo. Blah!
Anyway, I also found a whole selection of my favorite 80's styling products from Studio Line. Glintz temporary hair color was another find, Miss Clairol Shampoo and BRECK! Can you tell I LOVE hair Products. I use just the right amounts. Not too much. My hair is excellent. No chemical damage to date. Guy or gal, there's nothing sexier than a clean, awesome looking and awesome smelling head of hair.

Just wanted to add that I have very healthy, very long hair.

What was that beer shampoo called?
Subject: Re: Gee, You're Hair Smells Terrific! Remember Tha
I think it was called "Body on Tap".
Subject: Re: Gee, You're Hair Smells Terrific! Remember Tha
Yeah! That was it! Body on Tap. That was driving me crazy.
Thanks!

Speaking of shampoo, any one remember the ones by Revlon, called Revlon International Shampoos? They came in black bottles, with colored waves on the middle part, and the colors corresponded to the type of treatment you wanted. And then, the shampoos supposedly had ingredients from around the world, and each type was from a different country.
The commercials had women from different ethnis backgrounds, wearing black dresses, with waves of color like the bottles.
I loved it!! I used the yellow and the red.

OMG! ÊI totally forgot about those.....I think they may have come out in the 90s, but I can't remember. ÊI just rememeber using one with a very tropical smell...of coconuts, I believe. ÊWhen they went off the market, they were replaced by another Revlon shampoo called......darn.....now I can't remember, something like "fabulous". ÊThey also come in the black bottle with different colors. ÊOh, I just remembered. ÊIt's called Outrageous.

I love hair products, too. ÊI am constantly trying to find the best. ÊI really like the new Neutrogena shampoos (currently using Neutrogena Clean Shampoo for Color). ÊThey look and smell soooooo much better than the original.

Yes, Prell is still currently available. ÊYour right....it does stink.
Back to the question.....does anyone remember Halsa? (the botanical shampoo for certain hair colors....chamomile for blondes, etc.)
Subject: Re: Gee, You're Hair Smells Terrific! Remember Tha
Halsa hair, uncover your highlights
Halsa hair, discover your gold
Halsa hair!
Sorry, it had to be done.
What about LA Looks (I think that is what it was called)? It came in a clear bottle and it was clear. I think I bought it one time. Stuck on Halsa. ;D
Subject: Re: Gee, You're Hair Smells Terrific! Remember Tha
I remember it!!! I also used it a lot. ;)
I also remember the class clown/troublemaker, using that line to tease the not-popular girls. :( He would walk up to a girl who was having a bad hair day, pretend to inhale deeply then say, "Gee, Your Hair Smells Terrific!" while holding his nose. >:(
I felt bad for one particular girl, who always looked like she had really greasy hair. :'(

I also remember Halsa shampoos.
Does anyone remember an Avon perfume called Tocara? :-/
It may have originally come out in the 70's, but I used it most in the 80's. It was a semi-solid paste, which I would always buy in a "pencil", like eyeliner or lipliner. It went on invisible, since it was a perfume, but it's selling point was that it was a renewable scent. When the scent faded, all you had to do was rub the area where you had applied it and the scent came back. You could easily tell which girls in my junior high school were wearing it, because we were always rubbing our throats and wrists. ;D

I checked http://www.yesterdayland.com/popopedia/memories/show_mem.php?ID=FA1382 and it said it is still made but is only availiable in the Phillipines. but I found a few auctions of it on ebay

Does anyone remember Head and shoulders? ;D But seriously, who could forget the Denerex (sp) commercials with the guy having half a head shampooed with denerex and the other half with something else, exclaiming he can feel it working!
Subject: Re: Gee, You're Hair Smells Terrific! Remember Tha
It's tingles! That's how you know it's working! (Either that or that's how you know it's seeping down into your scalp and killing off your brain cells). Least, that's what I figured the tingling was all about...

Does anyone remember PROTEIN 31 ? ? ? The white angled bottle with a long neck and a violet lettering? PH Balanced.
That was an awesome shampoo!
Have you ever noticed how very few - If Any At All - shampoos are not PH balanced anymore or at least don't say so on the bottle?
A proffesional hair stylist told me once that any shampoo on the market, even the "cheap o' deluxe" kinds, are good for your hair as long as they're PH balanced. That's the secret to the best hair!!! A shampoo with PH balance.
Anyway, BRECK was good too. Haven't seen that in a while.
FLEX was good too. Haven't seeen that in a while.
WELLA BALSAM...
MISS CLAIROL...
Someone mentioned BODY ON TAP earlier in the thread...
OUTRAGEOUS...

That brings back a Letterman memory. Once, after the opening music, David didn't come out on stage. Paul went looking for him and knocked on his dressing room door. Dave answered the door and his hair was parted down the middle with shampoo on each side just like the guy from the Denerex commercial. He yelled at Paul something like "Damn it! This is science, my head is tingling!"
I laughed myself silly.
