Good choice. Even though there aren’t a whole lotta words in the song (just like their other big hit “Get Up And Boogie”), it is still a great one to listen to.

Most people who know this song, don't know it as a disco song. Japan were a British band, and the 1979 release of Life In Tokyo was initially a failure almost everywhere it was released. A 1981 re-release also failed, but then a 1982 remix finally saw the UK Top 30. The original 1979 version though peaked at #72 in Canada, and I find it far superior than the 1982 remix. I included the 1982 version (on the right) as a comparison Which one do you enjoy better?

Bowie appears a bit, ahem, "under the influence". Though to be honest, in those days it wasn't all that unusual to see people on TV in this condition. Even on innocuous game shows like Match Game, people like Brett Summers had cleary had a few drinks.

Revanche was a short lived Italo-Disco group assembled by Jacques Fred Petrus back in 1978.

Here is a two in one.. Rhythm Heritage had a US #1 single in 1976 with Theme From S.W.A.T. which also peaked at #37 in Canada. That same year, a cover version by a group called The T.H.P. Orchestra was a bigger hit in the Canadian chart where it peaked at #1. Which version do you like better?
Outside of the TV show, the T.H.P. version gets/got more airplay in Canada because radio stations could play it as part of their Canadian Content quotas they were required to meet

Good selection! O0
Between my Junior and Senior years of high school I was in a summer pre-engineering program at my eventual college alma-mater (excellent program) and there was a celebratory party at the end of the program. My parents even came, as did some others. Some of us had been doing a little dancing there, but not a lot. But as soon as the DJ played "You Should Be Dancing", everybody - I mean EVERYBODY - hurried themselves out to the dance floor, which got super crowded! That song was seemingly everyone's favorite to dance to in late summer '76. What a memory that brings back! :)

Here is Bang A Gong by a group called Witch Queen. A cover of the T-Rex song, this peaked at #68 in the US and #80 in Canada, but performed much better on the Disco charts where it peaked at #8 in the US and #14 in Canada. Witch Queen was a project by Canadian DJ Gino Soccio and this was their only hit from a self-titled lone album
