Queen's "Crazy Little Thing Called Love" definitely 1979, alleged to be written by Freddie Mercury, in ten minutes, while having a bath.

All these songs remind me high school. (Oh crap, I think I just dated myself again. I HATE when I do that.)

The Buggles - Video Killed the Radio Star

Because it was the first music video shown on MTV in 1981, it's often regarded as an 80s hit in America, when it is not. As it slipped down the Billboard chart in 1980, it was a 70s hit that was still popular in 1980. I can only assume had it charted higher, it would have been an actual 80s hit as it was released in the US the same time as Canada

Here's a slight alteration: Was it a hit in 1979 or 1982?
Japan - Life in Tokyo

The one on the left is the original 1979 version. In Japan's defense, it was originally released in the UK in April of 1979, but failed to chart. It was re-released in April 1981 and it too failed. The 1982 version, as seen on the right, was the third attempt and was chosen to be remixed so it aligned with the sound of 1982, and you know what they say: third time's a charm!

Thanks, I assume I forgot to take off the s or something? I didn’t check my post after doing it.

That song was in the charts in my last year at primary (elementary) school. I remember it being played at the school Christmas disco and everyone singing “We don’t need no education” at all the teachers!

It was clearly recorded in 1979. After all, it's on his Off The Wall album, which was released that same year. Plus, it began to chart in late '79 (altho it did peak in early '80).

Yeah, you forgot to take the "s" off.
We made up lyrics that were specific to our school:
We don't need no Mr. Warren
We don't need no Mr. Bell
No big Bilups in the classroom
To bore us all to hell.
Hey Gilcrest leave us kids alone.
All in all it's just another kid after school.
Yeah, I still remember our lyrics. lol.

I learned today that the song "Rainbow Connection" by The Muppets was from 1979, not around 1981 as I originally thought.
