Don't let the chart positions fool you. Your Place or Mine by Private Eye and White Flags by Leggat were very popular on Canadian Radio. The song Johnny Peace by Nucleus reached #22 on the Canadian Content chart in 1970. White Flags was fantastically covered by Blue Oyster Cult on their 1985 album Club Ninja ...

Also to mention another cover, the Canadian metal band Helix reached #44 in Canada during 1985 with their fantastic cover of (Make Me Do) Anything You Want. I'd post a clip of that one, but I cannot find a non live version that wasn't recorded in recent years

As The Leggat Brothers, they were never household names. Even the bands they were in were not household names, but the songs are still heard on the radio. 8)

Great thread! First of all I wasn't aware of the connection between all these bands.
Secondly:
Lords of London
1967 - Cornflakes and Ice Cream
A foot in Coldwater
1972 - (Make Me Do) Anything You Want
1973 - (Isn't Love Unkind) In My Life
3 songs I know and like. :)
Private Eye 1979 - Your Place or Mine
Don't let the chart positions fool you. Your Place or Mine by Private Eye and White Flags by Leggat were very popular on Canadian Radio.
I remember 1979 and yeah, "You're place or mine" had enough play on the radio that I remember it well, and I like it. 'White Flags" not so much AM play but I heard it on FM.

I guess so, but even A Foot in Coldwater with (Make Me Do) Anything You Want. It's quite possibly one of the most recognizable songs in Canada of the 1970s. It's still played on the radio

Oh, without a doubt. Totally agree. It's played on the radio often and one of the most recognizable songs in Canada during the early 70s.

There was a 4 CD set that came out in the mid 90s called "Oh, What A Feeling!" that celebrated the 25th year of the Juno Awards and included the best known Canadian songs of the then past 25 years and (Make Me Do) Anything You Want was on it.
The song itself even was heard outside of Canada via the 1984 Helix version, which could have sparked interest for the US and the rest of the world to give the original a listen.
