Written By: warped on 04/24/13 at 1:04 pm
Jim Croce was an American singer in which a total of five studio albums and 11 singles by him have been released. What was your favorite Jim Croce song?
Choices:
"One Less Set of Footsteps"
"Bad, Bad Leroy Brown"
"I Got a Name"
"Time in a Bottle"
"You Don't Mess Around with Jim"
"Operator (That's Not the Way It Feels)"
"It Doesn't Have to Be That Way"
"I'll Have to Say I Love You in a Song"
"Workin' at the Car Wash Blues"
"Chain Gang Medley"

ARRRGGGHHH this was hard. I love so many so I went with the one that I have listened to the most- "Operator (That's Not the Way It Feels)"
but I can honestly say there isn't a bad one in the bunch, for me. Jim Croce is one of my all-time favorites.

I love a lot of his songs like Operator, I Got a Name. But my absolutely favorite of his is Time in a Bottle. That song always brings tears to my eyes. It is funny because I was thinking about that song earlier today.

'Operator', but 'Bottle' comes close...
Meant absolute zilch in Britain, despite several well-received performances here...

I went with "Operator", just barely over "Time in a bottle"

Too hard to pick! I think of Jim Croce's career as having two segments - his releases before his tragic death :\'( and the releases afterwards.
My favorites include "It Doesn't Have To Be That Way", "Bad Bad Leroy Brown", and "I'll Have To Say I Love You In A Song" but a lot of his others are great, too :)
Incidentally, I recall seeing the news reports of his plane crash on TV. A "Special Report" news bulletin cut into regular programming that evening with the sad news. At just 13, I wasn't accustomed to hearing about people of interest to me dying from tragic accidents or the like. It left an impression.
One other thing - on a visit to San Diego, I went with a friend to Croce's restaurant there - it was great, and very informative about Jim Croce. I loved that visit!
