Written By: c_keenan2001@hotmail.com on 01/14/13 at 9:16 pm
Does anybody remember the Mirek and Peter Lang cartoon Ludwig. It used to air on TVOntario every morning at 8:00.
Such a bizare cartoon too. An egg with lots of mobile objects that came out of his shell. :(

I remember Ludwig, they used to show these cartoons on Captain Kangaroo. And yeah, it was kind of bizarre, I remember being a little weirded out by it when I was a kid.

I was not even a year old when this was released so I kind of doubt anything would have really phased me at that point. But I remember seeing this a lot on TVOntario and never really giving it a second thought as to how truly bizzare this show was. :)

There were a few other cartoons they showed along with Ludwig on Captain Kangaroo. Did they show any of these on TVOntario as well?

Simon In The Land Of Chalk Drawings aired on TVOntario in the 80s. I don't know the other shows that you listed. :)

I remember Ludwig. can't recall what time of day it was on though it would either be lunchtime just before Crown Court or more likely just before the evening news.
Crystal Tips and Alistair was a firm favourite of mine.
I vaguely recall Simon in the land of chalk drawings. I think that may not have been on UK tv until the 80s when I'd more or less stopped watching that kind of show.

You know how when you're a little kid and you get either frightened or at least weirded out by certain things that aren't necessarily meant to be frightening or creepy? I won't go so far as to say that Alistair frightened me when I was 5 years old, but he definitely weirded me out.
In particular:
One minute you see him in profile and he's smiling

and then he turns and looks RIGHT AT YOU and he STOPS SMILING and he has this REALLY WEIRD LOOK ON HIS FACE. :o :o :o

Just before the evening news, in the 'Magic Roundabout' slot...
Crystal Tips and Alistair was a firm favourite of mine.
And that one would've been shown just after 'Pebble Mill'...for kids programmes, they were nearly off the scale weird!

I only remembered Ludwig after stumbling across it on Youtube. I only saw it a couple of times but it must have had an effect on me for the memory to come flooding back. :)

Ludwig seems familiar to me, but I can't quite recall if I do remember it.
Simon in the Land of Chalk Drawings on the other hand, I do remember quite well, both the original and the remake: Back in the late 90s, it was revived for Canadian Television with narration by a man named Ernie Coombs, who was well-known to Canadian audiences as Mr. Dressup.

I don' remember Ludwig cartoons at all. I think it's because I had stopped watching cartoons by 1977.
