Subject: Obscure 70s song in Spanish?
Written By: 00s_teen on 05/23/11 at 11:47 am
Hello, what was that song that starts with an instrumental. I think it's European and in Spanish. It was sung by a male. The instrumental at the beginning is very joyful and sounds like a children's song.

Some more info about the instrumental at the beginning: some notes sound like the theme from 'The Flintstones' animated cartoon and I suppose it uses flutes (at least it sounds like that). The song is most probably from the early 70s. Thanks in advance!

The only song I can think of at the moment is 'Fiesta' by Rafaella Carra

It's not that, the singer was a male. The style of the song was like folk music or something. I guess folk-influenced music was popular in the early to mid 70s.

Clint Holmes - Playground In My Mind {1972}
Could it be a Spanish cover of this song?

I'm sorry, it's not that. The beginning is slightly similar, but the one I am looking for is faster.

Instrumental, Spanish sounding, fast, happy, retro, all make me think of Classical Gas, but there's no singing. Great song though.

I sincerely hope I'm wrong about this... but when you say "flute intro", "joyful", "children's song" and "European" there's one song that springs to mind. Well, MY mind, anyway...
Granted - the only thing Spanish about it is the title (maybe they recorded a Spanish version too, I'm not sure), and it's far from obscure, but other than that, it's spot-on.
Apologies beforehand. I'm Dutch too.

I remember incorporating this song into a Spanish project I did in elementary school- I always thought it was ABBA!
