Subject: Bread (pop band)
Written By: Frank on 08/20/09 at 5:49 pm
Bread was a pop band from Los Angeles, California. They placed 13 songs on the Billboard Hot 100 charts between 1970 and 1977 and were a primary example of what later was labeled "soft rock", releasing a string of well-crafted, melodic soft rock singles.
The band consisted of David Gates (vocals), Jimmy Griffin Robb Royer, Mike Botts and Larry Knechtel.
What's your favorite song of theirs?
Has anyone ever seen this group in concert?

I'm glad to see 'Goodbye Girl' is not in the poll. I've often seen that listed as a Bread hit
My all-time favourite is 'Everything I Own'. Such a beautiful song. I even liked the hit 1987 reggae-ish version of it by Boy George.

I love all of the songs on that album. I picked Diary and Make It With You ....but I could have easily gone with Everything I Own and If....
So...if Bread reform ...would they rename as 'Crumbs'....or maybe ...Mould? Perplexing question this.... :-\\

I think "If" is one of the most beautiful songs ever written, and it's by far my favorite "bread" song

Wouldn't do that, it's a David gates solo .

Hard to choose - so many good ones! :)
I voted "Make It With You" and "Guitar Man" - I was this close to picking "Everything I Own". It was a close call all around.

Belle du Jour has a clip of her cover of Everything I Own from her website. it's pretty good
I can't remember which member of Kiss, either Paul or Gene , but they gave praise & props to Bread which I thought was kinda cool 8)

I have to go with "if". However if David Gates as a solo were included I would say "Goodbye Girl".

IF

DAIRY

My close second choices were:
It Don't Matter To Me
Lost Without Your Love

so here is something about Everything I Own which surprised me. I always thought it was an awesome romantic love song, however David Gates wrote it with a double meaning, a love song for fans, yet also about his deceased dad for himself
