I have the book "House of Dark Shadows" and a Barnabas Collins joke book.  I've seen a few episodes.  Favorite character is Barnabas followed by Carolyn.

I remember coming home from school and watching. I also remember going to see (I think it was) the House of Dark Shadows at the movies. I LOVED IT, LOVED IT, LOVED IT!!!

I then started watching it again when they reran it back in the late 70s/early 80s. A few years ago, I bought a few VHS tapes of just a few shows-just to get a bit of the DS fix that I haven't had for many, many years. I did watch it again when they were showing it on Sci-Fi. I do remember the music-my sister had a music box that played Josette's Theme and I loved Quentin's Theme (which I believe hit the top 40.) And I think I still have a Barnabas Collin's joke book.

I am so jealous because my sister & brother-in-law got my dad the entire first two seasons on DVD for Christmas. Who knew my dad was a DS fan? Maybe he will lend them to me when he is done (or maybe I should just purchase it myself.  :-\\ )

As for favorite characters-Gotta be Barnabas without a doubt. How can you not love him. I also like Quentin & David.

It premiered on NBC in January 1991 & lasted only 12 episodes........
Ben Cross played Barnabas & Barbara Steele as Julia Hoffman.
The "gone way too soon" series has been released on DVD.
Don't forget, they also tried to remake it too.

House of Dark Shadows was Awesome ! Why it hasn't received an official DVD release is beyond Me...
Even if You never saw the series...You'd enjoy the Film.
I don't have the Pre-Barnabas episodes{although they've released them} But I have from His arrival to the end of the series on DVD.
The extra special features {mostly interviews w/ the Actors now} are worth it.

I remember coming home from school and watching. I also remember going to see (I think it was) the House of Dark Shadows at the movies. I LOVED IT, LOVED IT, LOVED IT!!!

As much as I love Johnny Depp & Tim Burton, the idea of ANYONE playing Barnabas other than Jonathan Frid is just unsettling to me.

I remember watching the old Dark Shadows when I was a kid. A horror themed soap opera...pretty cool stuff. My mom actually liked it. They used to show the reruns of the old show on the Sci-Fi Channel but it's been years since I've seen it there. I followed the remake of the early '90s but it didn't last long. Also I remember the little voodoo dude in the pic on your posts. That movie creeped me out for at least a week after I saw it when I was a little kid. I guess that's why I still remember it.

My sister & I loved Dark Shadows,we would watch it every day. I would put it in my top 5 shows that I watched when I was younger. The good part was it had so many twist & turns you didn't real know it was a soap opera
Jonathan Frid as Barnabas did a amazing job. I would have to say Barnabas,Quentin, &David Collins were some of my favorities along with Victoria Winters.

I was too young to watch it in it's initial run, but I remember when they were rerunning it on the Sci-Fi channel (?) and it was "brought to you be Preparation H."  I never got into the show, but I always loved the name "Barnabas."  If I ever get to name a cat again, I might go with Barnabas, or maybe get a male and female and call 'em "Barnabas and Josette"!
