Subject: Mahna Mahna

Wow, we all are familiar with getting that one tune stuck in your head.
Its even worse is when you don't know what it is, the title or artist. Don't even know where it came from, just popped in and stuck one day.
Well that was the case of this one. I'd been going around with "Mahna Mahna da doo doo doot" in my head the last week (argh!).
So I finally did a Google search and damn if the song isn't titled "Mahna Mahna" and has been covered by the Muppets, both on Sesame Street and The Muppet Show a few times.
Watch/hear it here The Muppet Show - Mahna Mahna ;D
Actually "Mah Nà Mah Nà" was a written by Piero Umiliani back in '68 (per Wikipedia). I had no idea how popular it was or how many different versions of it were out there.
What is it about a tune, something so silly like this that makes it so popular and memorable for this long? :D

It's funny how that happens right?
I always get the part where he is walking away, being all quiet like, stuck in my head!
Not to mention that I also have the first season of The Muppet Show on dvd, watched it last week and it is the first episode. Got the dang song stuck again!!! ;D

I remember this being on an episode of The Muppet Show (not the first one though :-\\ ) and it been a 'sensation' at school the following Monday.
Then it gets into my head again at college whenever the lecturer mentions "phenomenon" (which happens surprisingly often in science lectures!)

Of course y'all knew already that it was originally used in an erotic documentary... ::)

Unfortunately the song was ruined for life after this 90s version made it big in the UK...

The irony of this makes it easier to bear when the song gets stuck in my head!

Karma for making me actually pray for a Rick Roll. :)
"That was wonderful!"
"Bravo!"
"I loved that!"
"Ah, it was great!"
"Well, it was pretty good."
"Well, it wasn't bad..."
"Well, there were parts of it that weren't very good, though."
"Yeah, it coulda been a lot better."
"I didn't really like it."
"It was pretty terrible."
"It was bad!"
"It was awful!"
"Aaw, it was terrible!"
"Get him away!"
"Hey! Boo!"
"Boo!"

I saw the original airing on Sesame Street. My brother and I loved that song! We got so carried away with it we made hand puppets out of brown paper lunch bags and re-enacted the musical skit. Fun times!

I grew up on the Sesame St version. Then in the late 70s early 80s my local TV station used it for ages as their station IS so we would all walk around singing
Ma na ma na
its channel 7
ma na ma na
the place to be
ma na ma na
its channel 7, its 7
the very number one place to be.
dammit now I have it stuck in my head AGAIN !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've always associated this song with Sesame street.
Catchy little tune.
