Subject: And what about Amii Stewart?
Written By: guest on 10/12/08 at 7:07 am
Do you remember her? I was not around in the 1970's (I was born in 1988), but I like her style of singing.
Was she popular in the US?

She had a #1 in the US with a frantic disco re-hash of 'Knock On Wood', but most of her success happened in Europe...so much so, that she relocated to Italy sometime in the mid-80s...
Just to confuse things, she, Sinitta and Miquel Brown are all related in some way...

Amii Stewart is the aunt of actress/singer Sinitta who, in turn, is the daughter of actress/singer Miquel Brown.

That's awesome. I didn't know that. This means that Sinitta was born into Canadian Citizenship. If I'd known this long ago, I would have used some Sinitta songs in past quizzes I did LOL

I loved Knock On Wood. One of my favorite disco songs.

Popular? More like Unstoppable! (1999 anthology that should still be findable via spAmazon and playable without vinyl)
And just googling around, I realize there's one cover that I simply must have, if for no other reason than that these crazy Russians also probably tried to cover Knock on Wood, even at the height of the Cold War.
Because 12 Knock on Wood remixes by Amii Stewart over the past 20 years, the 1966 original by Eddie Floyd, the Studio 54 movie mix by Mary Griffin, the 1993 David Bowie live performance, and the 2004 remix by Rachel Stevens are not enough, I want

because... well, because MOAR!
