Subject: Muskrat Love
Written By: CeramicsFanatic on 01/29/08 at 3:39 pm
So I was just listening to one of my XM music channels and this song came on...
Does anybody else think that the song, performed by America as well as Captain & Tennille, is a bit strange?
I mean, whoever thinks of muskrats being 'in love'? ???

Then again, it was parodied and played on Dr. Demento...a song called 'Hamster Love' only :P :P :P :P :P....it sings about frying them up in a pan and how deeeeliscious they are.

I've seen a muskrat up close... and, nup, love didn't come to mind.
Didn't someone do a more rock oriented version of "Muskrat Love"? (not America's cover)

Just a fraction! :D
I can't remember what version I was familiar with first, but I was ever-so slightly amazed that it proved to be a sizeable hit for C&T!
(In a rare burst of good taste, the British record buying public decided to leave it in the stores!)
I mean, whoever thinks of muskrats being 'in love'? ???
Not fair...muskrats need love too! :D

Just to put some balance here on this one. I actually liked, played and sang this song. It was fun to get the harmonies right (but yes, it was a strange concept)..
