Subject: Any fans of The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band out there?

They were a country-folk-rock group from California, and I remember my dad playing their music a lot when I was a young girl...
They didn't have many Top 40 hits here in the U.S. (their biggest was 'Mr. Bojangles', which reached #9)...but their sound was very laid-back (much like The Eagles' music from around the same time)... :)

Mr. Bojangles was their biggest hit in Canada too, reaching #2 in 1971 (it was kept off the top by The Osmonds and 'One Bad Apple')
My favourites were under the moniker 'The Dirt Band', two hits they had in 1980: 'An American Dream' (Duet woith Linda Ronstadt) and 'Make A Little Magic' (with female vocals by Nicolette Larson)

'Mr. Bojangles' completely stiffed in Britain...because we're like that! ::)
Very good version though...it's the one I normally 'go for'... :)

No Bo for me, just the Kenny Loggins song House at Pooh Corner (1971/1970).
And I'm told their Will the Circle Be Unbroken album (from 1972) is one of the best country albums of all time.

I like 'Mr. Bojangles'. I don't know their other works well, except of course 'House at Pooh Corner' which is excellent.

I like "Modern Day Romance", "Cadillac Ranch", and "Fishin' In The Dark".
