I like that song but "Jackie Blue interruptus" still irritates me after all these years. JBI is when a radio station plays the shortened version of the song which leaves out
Every day in your indigo eyes
I watch the sun set but I don`t see it rise
Your lightning, stars, and your strawberry wine
You take the world but you won`t take the time

Lately I am addicted to You Can't Dance by Jackson Hawke
For you folks in the States, it was a Top 50 (US #49) hit for England Dan and John Ford Coley in 1978, but this original by Jackson Hawke was far superior, and a smash hit across Canada in 1976. It's a shame there is truth to this song title, because if I could dance, I'd be cutting a rug right now 8)

That's interesting! :D
I don't remember ever hearing the song at the time it came out...
...in fact, the only way I've been hearing it is through one of the XM music channels on satellite TV...
The song's pretty cool except for the part where the girl repeats the line, 'Say what?...' ::)

One of my favorite disco/soul tunes from the 70's is 'Dazz' by Brick...
Several months ago my hubby invited an older friend over to our house...and while we were all sitting around on the lanai drinking margaritas, the guy's cell phone rang...
Instantly, I recognized the ringtone as being from that song, and when I mentioned it to the guy he was flabbergasted that I knew what it was! :o :D

I sometimes experience that when I somehow catch a snippet of a 'hip and trendy' modern tune...
Nine times out of ten it will contain some sort of 'sample' from an oldie, which makes me retch a bit! :P

I have never heard that verse...so I guess I'm only familiar with "~ Interruptus" then.
Wild Cherry's "Play That Funky Music" must also have an "interruptus" version, as I have heard some stations edit out the second verse ("I tried to understand them...")

Raspberries are pretty good. Eric Carmen's 70s stuff is better than the 80s stuff IMO.

Wuthering Heights is amazing. I "discovered" it a few years ago. Hard to believe it was released in the 70s when she was very young.

There are so many and I am tryin' to down load some. Was there anyone else that did "MOTORCYCLE MOMMA" other than Sailcat? It just doesn't sound right to me.
I know the '70's did that to many of us but still............

That's "The Battle of New Orleans" (originally: "The 8th of January"). You'll probably remember the version by Nitty Gritty Dirt Band (or Buck Owens), although there are countless variations to the lyrics of the song and numerous other interpreters as well.
Personally, I remember a version called "Mexico" by the Les Humphries Singers (which was a hit over here in 1972 and 1981).
