Subject: Schoolhouse Rocks!

Written By: star500 on 12/07/06 at 8:04 pm

Does anyone remember Schoolhouse Rocks? They were 3 minute shorts that would come on in between shows, usually on ABC. I used to watch them all the time with my brothers and sisters growing up. They used to show them again about 10 years ago on TV and that is when I watched them with my brothers and sisters. They were fun...some of the most memorable ones are "I'm Just a Bill", "Electricity, Electricity" and "Conjunction Junction." For those of you who were too young to see them or didn't see them at all, I included some of the most popular ones, courtesy of You Tube.

Strangely enough, the voice on Schoolhouse Rock videos sounds a lot like the voice of Louie the Lightbug on those PSAs from the '80s ???.

"It's Schoolhouse Rocky, a chip off the block, on your favourite Schoolhouse, Schoolhouse Rocks!"

I used to watch these all the time in the 80s on ABC.  Classic stuff 8)

I LOVE Schoolhouse Rock! That was another reason to sit in front of the TV on Sat mornings besides the cartoons. My all time favorite has to be Conjunction Junction. Grammar Rock was tops followed by Multiplication Rock. I remember also when they would show the little intro before the clip came on, they would show the beginning of Figure 8 with the children going into the school. Then when the clip was over, they would show the children coming out of the school.  Boy I remember I was upset when they stopped showing these.  Thank goodness for the DVD. :)

Hey, thanks for putting these up! I haven't seen them in a long time, and it hadn't occured to me to look them up on YouTube.

I always liked the voice of the guy who sang on "Conjunction Junction" and "I'm Just A Bill..." Never knew who it was, but according to the comments on YouTube, his name was Jack Sheldon.

The DVD is an absolute must-have. They contain ALL of the shorts, including "Scooter Computer & Mr. Chips", and one (forgettable) one about the weather that they hadn't run for years because of some sort of legal issues...plus a new one about the electoral college reuniting the creators once again!

Check out the tribute CD Schoolhouse Rock Rocks, with Ween, Better Than Ezra, Moby, Pavement, and many others covering some of the classic tunes.  8)

That was only one of the many threads we have had about Schoolhouse Rock. I have a CD that have some of them on it but what I said on that poll (which you gave the link to), Interjection was ALWAYS my favorite. I also like the Preamble and I'm Just a Bill.
