The weekly syndicated primetime Match Game PM debuted on New York ABC affiliate WABC-TV Channel 7 (where it aired Tuesday nights at 7:30 PM Eastern) and other ABC flagship stations all across the country. The "PM" version was self-contained with no returning champions and each show ended with a Super Match which paid off over $10,000 (twice the basic minimum jackpot of the CBS Daytime MG Super Match!).
The debut telecast, taped on July 13, 1975, featured as its panelists Clifton Davis, Brett Somers, Charles Nelson Reilly, Elaine Joyce, Richard Dawson and Joyce Bulifant. On some weeks, the Match Game PM panel was concurrent with the CBS Daytime Match Game 7X panel; other weeks, it was not.
It is said that whenever the sun went down on the MG set, things get a little way-out! This was very much evidenced in several memorable moments in the first season, like The Burns and Cuts Fiasco in episode 7 and The Admiral Color TV Debacle in #16. Show #66 in Season 2 saw Richard Dawson and Betty White impersonating Brett and Charles. Show #97 in Season 3 was a memorable one in that Raven's Head Coach Brian Billick appeared on Match Game PM as a contestant. Season 4 (1978-79) saw the infusion of the new set and Star Wheel, crossing over from the CBS Daytime Match Game 78; as a result, Episode #121 marked Richard Dawson
