wow. that's a lot of football.
at only a cursory glance i see kim richards appearing twice. you philistines don't understand the seriousness of her gambit for world domination in the late '70s. she got close!
and ark II! the rerun movies too. how come with four or five channels they were showing ten times more interesting stuff than they do now with 200 channels? isn't that a mathematical impossibility?

Its definately a LOT of football, but these days during the league season, we actually get more, and cricket often goes all day.
It often makes me wonder how the there can be such a lack of interesting 'new' TV shows these days when compared to back in the 1970's considering, as you noted, we had only 5 or so channels to choose from back then and over 200 now. I blame reality TV for a lot of it, although there are a lot of good TV shows on pay TV now, but you have to pay for these shows.
Ill post the next days programs in a day or two for those who are interested.

'let me know when the star wars special is on.'
The Star Wars Holiday Special was originally aired in Australia in August of 1979. I dont have a TV Week for this date. I have the week begining May 13th 1978, January 27th 1979 and the two weeks begining December 28th 1979.
I am looking for more 1970's TV Weeks/Guides, and when I get them Ill post the programs

The late 70s were a classic period for Aussie television, though I don't really see any classic TV shows on that list. Though I wasn't born in 1978, I enjoy watching old shows like Blankety Blanks with Graham Kennedy, Prisoner, A Country Practice.etc.

No classics?
Love Thy Neighbour is a major classic...And then theres Little House On The Prairie, The Waltons, Are You Being Served?, Some Mothers Do 'ave Em and others. A Country Practice began in 1981, so it wouldnt be in the TV listings Im putting on here.

man. mchale's navy and petticoat junction. i used to watch those all the time. i bet if i saw them now i'd think they were awful.
after the fox is an interesting movie. although terrible. vittorio de sica, the great italian neorealist director, was in it, and lost all his dignity. and i think peter sellers starred? although i forget.
you can tell it's the weekend, the programming gets a lot better, i think.

What was Countdown about? We have a quiz show of that name and I wondered if it was based on the Australian show?
