My favourite musical movie from the 70s is an unlisted film in the poll. Released in March 1976, Tommy, the cinemagraphic version of The Who's rock opera, directed by Ken Russell.

What about David Bowie/Ziggy Stardust's 'final' concert at the Hammersmith Odeon in 1973, where he famously announced his retirement from the stage? That was quite a moment in rock'n'roll history.

1] Jesus Christ Superstar(it was an album first, then a stage performance, then a movie)
2] Hair(movie version, since it qualifies for the 70's)
3] Alice Cooper: Welcome to My Nightmare

Rocky Horror (of course)
Sgt. Pepper (Yeah, guilty pleasure but I can't help it, I LOVE this movie)
And the only other one on the list that I have seen was The Kids Are Alright (the Who)-saw that at the movies-on a date and we were...um..feeling no pain  ;) so I don't remember too much of the movie.  ;D

The others that some people have mentioned, Jesus Christ, Superstar and Tommy. I was very disappointed with the movie version of Hair but the play was EXCELLENT!!!

I remember the Broadway cast album of Hair. I had to be 5-6yrs old, giggling during "I Got LIfe" when they sing "I got my T*ts" and also "I got my A**"  Hey, I was only 6.

I loved the movie, loved it! I couldn't wait to see it. You'll notice my moniker "berger"

I picked up on the "berger" and Hair was first thing I thought of. I grew up listening to the album of Hair (and yeah, I giggled too). I ALWAYS end up crying when I hear "The Flesh Failure". Heavy, heavy song.

I could only pick 2: The Song Remains The Same and The Last Waltz.

For me there really was only one ! Rocky Horror every time. But I also picked Abba The Movie cos its was filmed here in my home town and my oldest bestest friend can be seen in the front row of the Perth concert scenes !!  We watch it together just to point her out !

What about 1979s The Rose with the fab Bette Midler ? does that count as a Rock Musical or Concert film ?  I felt it was a mix of both.

what about Pink Floyd The Wall ?
If that would have been a selection, it would be in my top 3. Of the choices listed, I picked
Song Remains The Same- Led Zeppelin
The Last Waltz- The Band
Rocky Horror Picture Show

Also... would Grease be a candidate? if so, it would be my #1 pick. And I'd have to pick 5.

The film version of Pink Floyd The Wall was released in 1982, which falls out of the 70s bracket.

There was also a Live at the Berlin Wall with Bryan Adams, Cyndi Lauper, Thomas Dolby and many, many more preforming the show (I think just before the wall fell-or just after in 1989). I have a copy of it on VHS. If you haven't seen it, check it out.

I just heard on a local classic rock station, for the first time ever, four live recordings from the Berlin Wall event.  Among the songs was a memorable Roger Waters/Paul Carrack, (yes, Paul Carrack) rendition of Pink Floyd's "Comfortably Numb"...

Okay, the song sucked.  Well, the chorus did, anyway.  The rest was money groove ;) on...

I think Bryan Adams had a hit with Young Lust from this concert too.

Check this out.

I forgot that Tim Curry was also in this. Yeah, I do have the video but haven't watched it in a long time. I really should do that soon.
