Wow, there's so many "Funk" artists! The 70's was a very Funky decade ;D
I don't know if I can name one favorite. I'll just list some others that aren't in your list:

Brothers Johnson
Kool & The Gang
Ohio Players
Isley Brothers
Average White Band
James Brown
Rick James

Of the ones listed, I'd go with Sly & The Family Stone. Altho there's probably tons of "funk" groups/musicians who aren't listed in the poll who I'd also vote for if they were there.

The best Funk artists were The Gap Band. They were great 8)
