Subject: Ice Castles

Does anyone remember this movie? I was a pretty good movie, came out in 1978 and it had Lynn-Holly Johnson in it. She plays Alexis Winston, a 16-year-old figure skater. This wasn't too hard for Lynn to play, as she was a figure skater in real life at the time. She is very good and she knows it and she likes to show off but one night, she shows off a little too much and gets into an accident, causing her to go blind. This part of the movie is a tad depressing. I won't spoil the end, I'll just say it is upbeat and not what you would expect.
Also co-starring Robby Benson and Tom Skerrit, it featured the song Looking Through the Eyes of Love which became a big hit that year.

I love this movie! And it was filmed here in Minnesota at the old Met Center. Robbie Benson was trying out for the now defunct Minnesota North Stars. And the girl who was competing against Lexie in the tryouts.. went to highschool with my husband. Small world eh?

I remember that movie. It was a bit sappy but I liked it. Haven't seen it in years. (LOVE the song.)
