I enjoy all of Byran Ferry and Roxy Music, and have no particular favourite.

Snoz needs to check out this thread!

Philistine!  :o

But I will agree with Danoota that his best stuff was with RM (both in this decade and the next...)

Let us not forget about that infamous album cover.

'Avalon' by Roxy Music, to me, one of the best albums of the 80s.  The album's final single 'Take A Chance With Me' gave them a surprise Top 40 hit in Canada, but it was the lead single 'More Than This' that got more airplay, despite not charting in Canada

Other: The Price of Love, followed by A Hard Rain's A-Gonna Fall and This is Tomorrow

Ditto that. Almost shocked that this is not a choice on the poll.

Given the time and the style of music happening at the time, you have to give Ferry and Roxy Music a HUGE thumbs up for this song.
I've played this to the unheard before and they do not believe that "Love Is The Drug" is from circa 1975.  :o

This track and Roxy Music was WAY ahead of its time. A lot of 80's music (Duran Duran, Eurythmics, Adam Ant, The Psychedelic Furs, etc) and even music today owes a lot to their sound.

This covers Ferry's solo wok only.  Somewhere on this forum, I also did a Bryan Ferry - 80s poll and a Roxy Music poll

Understand that, but its almost impossible to include or submit a thread about Brian Ferry and the 70's and ignore Roxy Music.
They're inseparable in this context.

Ferry cut three separate solo outings in the 70's but was still with Roxy at the time. It wasn't until his later effort, In Your Mind that most anyone really considered him separate from his Roxy Music past.

Don't misunderstand, I realize his impact and separate offerings from Roxy, but can't see him really breaking away as a solo artist until the 80's and "Boy's & Girls".

A good point.  He masterfully juggled both solo and Roxy throughout the 70s.  On many of his solo albums, he had Roxy members on instruments, so was he really solo? lol

I've always liked Bryan Ferry's unique voice... :)

Most of the material he did that I'm familiar with came out in the 1980's...and I'd have to say 'More Than This' is my favorite...
