The ones I used to play all the time (which I still have and I'm sure they are all scratched up) were:

(no order)

Styx-Grand Illusion
Jethro Tull-Songs From the Wood
Billy Joel-The Stranger
Rick Wakeman-Journey to the Centre of the Earth (IMO-a masterpiece)
Bob Dylan-Desire

Most of them I have since got on CD-with the exception of Rick Wakeman (which reminds me that I need to).

Even though I was very young in the 70's, I now have a few 70's albums I listen to quite frequently:

Armageddon - Prism
Hot Shots - Trooper
Sunday Morning Suite - Frank Mills

Wow! Max W. and the Clash! I'm a one of the biggest Clash fans; it was a toss up between first Clash & L.C.  I went with #1 due to its more raw edge and less pop music aim. (Still one of the best live shows EVER at  Buffalo NY's Bills Stadium, in what in i'm guessing was 1979?; the Who played this bill too...ho- hum)  But- Max Webster was a long forgotten band; and, that was a back then favorite ("No Matches.... No Cigarettes" dontcha just love this old stuff?).... that, listen to this! I live in western NY near Niagara Falls, and, when in high school,  one of my best friends had a cousin "Ralph" that lived in Toronto (home base of Kim Mitchell and MW) whom was good friends with a bandmember of MW! Anyway, we got the royal treatment (backstage, hotel suite invite, etc). They (MW) were the warm up act for Rush for a couple of tours. I had the privelage of meeting all M.W. members PLUS Geddy, Eric, and Neal on TWO occasions! Brings to mind one of the best shows I've seen from that era in Niagara Falls NY that Kim got for myself and friend first row seats (even though they were not the warm up bandr): Uriah Heep as warm up, with Rush headlining. It was sad to me that U.H. were misunderstood and got boooos  and trash thrown from the audience after 4 or 5 songs; BUT...  Mick Box saiid with complete and total (plus justified) pride :  "F*** You"  and walked off stage. I was dissappointed to not see the whole UH show, I still like them, but Rush from row one was a great experience! (I can't, but does anybody know what LP tour this was in maybe 1979 when the current Rush LP had a puppet on the cover of their new release?)

Paul McCartney & Wings--Wings Over America

oo! i want that one!

mine were

Led zeppelin 1
Led zeppelin 4
Heavy metal soundtrack (I think that was 79?)
Wings greatest hits
Dark side of the moon

Most of my LPs were 80s, weirdly. And I had LOTS of cassettes. I sorta favored them, cuz I was real bad at taking care of records.

The one I have is a live version. It is EXCELLENT. Like I said, IMO it is truly a masterpiece.

Because, in the 1970's, I was young (I was 8 in 1980), I was very much influenced by the music I heard on the radio or on TV. So, here is my list of 1970's albums I always play...In no particular order:

Chipmunk Punk by The Chipmunks (yes, this one shows how young I was back then)

Bat Out Of Hell by Meatloaf

Rumours by Fleetwood Mac

Fleetwood Mac by Fleetwood Mac

Ladies Of The Canyon by Joni Mitchel

Off The Wall by Michael Jackson

War Of The Worlds by Jeff Wayne

Grease movie soundtrack

Rocky Horror Picture Show soundtrack

Saturday Night Fever by The Bee Gees

Hot August Nights by Neil Diamond

Led Zeppelin 3 by Led Zeppelin

Led Zeppelin 4 by Led Zeppelin

Cheap Trick at Budokan
Queen Live Killers
Frampton Comes Alive
The Who Live At Leeds
Zeppelin The Song Remains The Same
Thats my kind of music Gord, got em all except the cheap trick one and its on my wish list
I toss in a couple of my personal fav's
Roadwork - Edgar Winter's White Trash , and like the kid says in the movie Almost Famous, "the guitar work is incendiary" done by the legendary Rick Derringer.
Toys in the Attic - Aerosmith
Houses of the Holy - Led Zeppelin & you gotta luv The Rain Song
Live Full House - J Geils Band -
Live in Concert - Rare Earth get this is you have the means, it is one of the best live albums ever.
This is actually a very good topic Bruce and I have an Outlaws album but I think its not Live and I can't remember the title but it has their hit Green Grass and High Tides on it. all my albums are in my garage in storage. I need to take them out and let them be born again.

You sure that was not the re- release on about 1980 Nursery Cryme and Foxtrot? Thise were great LP's; especially with Peter Gabriel still in the line up.

You are correct, my mistake sorry. At least you gave
me a reason to dig it out of storage and now I am
wearing the grooves off of it again.
