Subject: Fave Songs from the Bicentennial Year (1976)

Written By: iluvthe80s on 09/21/05 at 7:46 am

Anarchy in the UK - The Sex Pistols
Sara Smile - Hall & Oates
Let Your Love Flow - The Bellamy Brothers
Love Hangover - Diana Ross
Don't Fear the Reaper - Blue Oyster Cult

That's just for starters, a little cross-section of my eclectic tastes in music.  Will hopefully think of more later.  :)

Never Gonna Fall In Love Again by Eric Carmen

Beth by Kiss

Somebody To Love by Queen

Summer by War

Silly Love Songs and Let''em In by Wings

Got To Get You Into My Life by The Beatles (Recorded in 1966 but released in '76)

The Year Of The Cat by Al Stewart

Kiss & Say Goodbye by The Manhattens

Nadia's Theme by Barry Devorzon & Perry Botkin Jr.

Love So Right by The Bee Gees

That's all for now

I got to see Casey and the Sunshine Band at a special bicentennial show for school kids. I was 11 most of that year so I don't remember specific songs. I was so excited!

Yep! Harry Wayne Casey first wrote "Rock Your Baby," a huge 1974 hit for George McCrea. KC & The Sunshine Band had some really great stuff. From '76 it could've been "Shake Your Booty" "That's The Way I Like It" and "Boogie Shoes"...I believe the others like "I'm Your Boogie Man and "I Like To Do It" were from '77. If I'm wrong, I apologize, though I enjoyed all those songs I wasn't a "Disco-freak" enough to care much about dates :-\\

Remember the song 'Let It Whip' by the Dazz Band?  That group took their name from the title of Brick's song.  :)

You got it right. I keyed that one wrong. The song is "Dazz", the group is Brick.

This is bringing back soooo many memories for me.  I was just 7 years old in 1976 but I spent the summer with my teenaged cousins and the radio was on all the time.  :)
