Subject: Favorite Sesame Street Character

This is a topic that would fit in any decade, but I picked the 70's because that was my early childhood, when I was into Sesame Street the most. :)
I love all the characters, but my favorite is Oscar the Grouch.

Oscar was cool. I always wanted to get in his trash can but I would have to say I loved Grover... Hes so cute and for the newer characters, Elmo without a doubt... Hes so cute but all and all I loved Grover, I wanted to live with him when I was a child. U didnt ask but I HATE HATE HATE BIG BIRD.... HES A WEIRD QUEERY TYPE Character, I think he hit the sauce alot, I mean? He saw an elephant noone else saw.... TRIPPY!!! :D ;D :P ???

I haven't watched Sesame Street in quite a while, so I don't know if they still show this particular segment, but when I was a kid my favorite character was "The Painter." He wore a top hat and a messy painter's jacket, and he'd walk around with a can of paint and a paintbrush and paint numbers around various public places. He also had a nemesis, "Mac," who was a janitor or something.

Since Jim Henson's untimely passing, the character just lost a lot of it's lustre. I could not see anyone else doing the voice. Only Jim could do it, he put himself into the character, and without him, it's not the same anymore, sad but true. :\'(

We watched a recent Muppet Movie and Kermit sounded awful to me. My 4 year old asked me if that was Ernie's voice. They sound so similar.
Having two small children, I spend a lot of time watching Sesame Street. I've noticed that Big Bird is also being done by someone else. The voice is close but not the same.
Oh well, I guess we can't expect the same people to do it forever.

Let's see... Big Bird, Bert & Ernie, The Count, Cookie Monster and Oscar the Grouch. If I had to choose one favorite though it would be Oscar the Grouch. I hate Elmo, that character is sooooo annoying! And now he has a half an hour show devoted to him called Elmo's World. Oh well, the little kids love him and I guess that is what is important! ;D
P.S.: Did any Canadians ever catch the Canadian version of Sesame Street, called Sesame Park? It was okay, but in no way better then Sesame Street. :D

i have a great book about the show called Sesame Street:Unpaved..i think that's where i got my passion for the French language :)..i have yet to narrow down a fave..Snuffy and Mumphy are pretty high on my list though 8)

I hate how they have changed the opening song over the years...I used to love the 70's/80's version.

I remember TV Guide voted Guy Smiley as one of the greatest game show hosts of all time ... which probably pissed off some real live action game show hosts who didn't make the list ;D

Somewhere I read that the blue man's name was Big Fat Blue, but it was never mentioned. By the way, I chose "other", since Cookie Monster was my favorite.
