Written By: Chrisrj on 05/05/05 at 9:20 pm

What songs from this time have a summer vibe to them?

Some of my choices:
Joy to the World(3 Dog Night)
Go All the Way(Raspberries)
Brandy(You're a Fine Girl)
Horse With No Name(America)

The archetypical summer song, 'In The Summertime' - by Mungo Jerry, 1970.
'Magic' by Pilot (don't know one year) was also quite summerlike

The '70s were a little easier. I'm thinking of these

Montego Bay -- Bobby Bloom
School's Out -- Alice Cooper
Midnight at the Oasis -- Maria Muldaur
In the Summertime -- Mungo Jerry (somebody already beat me to it)
Coconut -- Harry Nilsson
Mexico -- James Taylor
Dancing in the Moonlight -- King Harvest
Summer Madness -- Kool & the Gang (Sounds like a familiar summer song from the '90s?  ??? )
Summer Breeze -- Seals and Crofts
Kodachrome -- Paul Simon
Summer -- War
Shaker Song -- Spyro Gyra
Morning Dance -- Spyro Gyra
Moonlight Feels Right -- Starbuck
Sealed with a Kiss -- Bobby Vinton

Throwing in...

'Beach Baby' - First Class (a blatant, but very effective, Beach Boys pastiche...)

'Seaside Shuffle' - Terry Dactyl & The Dinosaurs (a blatant rip-off of Mungo Jerry's hit, but successful nonetheless...)

'Summer (The First Time)' - Bobby Goldsboro (corny as they come, but highly enjoyable...)

For Me....personally,

1971 - Me And You And A Dog Named Boo - Lobo

1972 - Alone Again (Naturally) - Gilbert O'Sullivan

1973 - So Very Hard To Go - Tower Of Power

1974 - Rock Your Baby - George McCrea

1975 - Listen To What The Man Said - Paul McCartney & Wings

1976 - Moonlight Feels Right - Starbuck....though it was actually recorded in 1974....so....for a 2nd choice I'd say More, More, More - Andrea True Connection

1977 - Hotel California - The Eagles

1978 - Right Down The Line - Gerry Rafferty

1979 - Love You Inside And Out - Bee Gees (Honorable Mentions to...."My Sharona - The Knack" and "All My Love - Led Zeppelin"
