Since I've never seen Monty Python and I thought Benny Hill was hysterical growing up, I pick him.  ;D

Python didn't make the transistion to the states AS well.. but were so much funnier.

I have watched Benny Hill and.. he is funny and good but everything just seems rigid. With Python they just did stuff and were naturally funny. Plus every single one of them has gone on to great things.

I liked both. They were funny for very different reasons. Monty Python had an intellectual surrealistic wit and Benny Hill didn't.  :)

Another funny character on the Benny Hill Show was Jackie Wright, that little old bald guy that Benny always used to be tapping on the back of the head.  ;D

Monty Python by a mile! Palin, Cleese, Idle etc. were geniuses.

Both make me laugh equally hard, but for different reasons. I like Monty Python for their brainy yet absurdist type of humor, and I like Benny Hill because he appeals to the naughty-minded 13-year-old that really is still at my core.

I'd agree with Rex, it depends on your mood; I sometimes find MP a little too abstract (like sheesh, need more cheeba for this!), sometimes find Benny Hill a little too puerile...I did hear someone with the Benny Hill chase music as a phone ring tone the other day, quite amusing...

both are two funniest comedy shows of 20th century.

Benny Hill was funny...but IMO for me it's kind of stale.  So many of his skits were redone over and over again. 

Give an example, how many times can one see him pat the little old guy on the head before it's kind of stale?  Or the one where he's in a cafe or restaurant, a busty waitress asks if he wants tea, he says "yes", so she pulls a teabag from her cleavage, she asks if he wants sugar, he says "yes", so she pulls a sugar packet from her cleavage also...and then asks "milk" with Benny Hill then either saying "no!" or looking perplexed.  Funny...but I've seen it done a few times, including a Mexican/Latin American setting...same skit rehashed over and over.  No, he didn't do it everytime, but he did resuse skits a bit too much.

Python on the other hand, if it was on right now...I'd watch it right now, even if it was an episode I've seen 100 times. 

Or the short answer:  I voted for Python.  ;)
