I like most the Stranglers songs, and I did see them film the video for "European Female" back in 1983.

That was early 80s, early '82 to be exact...

Funny thing was, because it was a deliciously mellow number, our then-MOR national radio station (Radio 2) made it their single of the week...

But they didn't actually check what the song was about...!!

Think Golden Brown is indeed about taking heroin. Went thru a bad patch with that myself some years ago; can't now listen to Goilden Brown as it brings the memories flooding back, despite the fact I love the song...
